    Yes. When I changed the oil it came out clean. But this time around (maybe an hr of water time) it drained out black.

    To be honest I have very little knowledge about boats. But I did not switch the shift rod as it looked the exact same. Also I measured it to what the other rod came out as. I got it in no problem so I thought it would be fine. :/

    Thank you will check those for the bulb collapsing. As for the lower unit I just removed it from my 89 Johnson and then removed from the 97 Johnson and put it in and it worked. Just the problem of no full power. Which I’m unsure if it was due to the lower unit or the bulb problem.

    I just want to add that I put it on and put it on the water. There was a lack of full power but also noticed another issue my bulb collapsed when driving but went back to normal went I put it in neutral.
