    Leak Repair: GluVit, 3M5200, G/Flex650

You are much braver than I relying on a band-aid in 2-3' chop 2 miles offshore. IF this were my boat, I'd be tearing the floor out and re-bucking/replacing any leaky rivets. I have this thing about swimming in cold water...it ain't for me. **If you read the mfg specs, Gluvit is NOT UV stable...

    HYDROFOIL

What problem are you attempting to fix with it? I see in your other post that you have a 5.0L Baja boat. I'd wager adjustable trim tabs might be a better option then drilling holes in your cav plate.

    Refurbishing a fiberglass bass boat

I'd check the specs on the resin. From what I'm reading that resin is used in surf board construction. No where does it mention its used for boat construction/repairs. To me, that would warrant a call to the manufacturer. I'm not sure this is the way to go if you're trying to cut weight off a...

    Marinco solar vents-Junk?

Fan itself is probably replaceable. If you're able to get into the unit, the fan probably has a part number, voltage, and rpm on a sticker. Amazon/Google/Ebay for replacements. To replace it may be as simple as unplugging the old and connecting the new or it may require some soldering skills...

Are Chrysler motors junk and to be avoided?

Interesting write up and I'll have to keep that in mind while searching for the kids boat. I've seen a couple tin cans come across with Chrysler outboards hung on the back. Other than seeing them in FB Marketplace ads, they're an unknown in this area. Mostly Merc, Yammie, Honda, and...

    fiberglass void

As Scott mentioned, the way the boat is layed up is gelcoat/fiberglass outer shell, laminated to a wooden transom, which is then covered by more fiberglass and possibly gel on the inside. So a Fiberglass-Wood-Fiberglass sandwich if you will at the transom. Given you have a void, the wood core...

    fiberglass void

On a typical fiberglass boat, there isn't a void at the transom between the inner and outer fiberglass. What's between those two, on a typical boat, is your wood transom. Newer boats may be some sort of composite material that doesn't/resists rot. So if you have a void up high, chances are...

I wouldn't put money on the Bills. They'll choke at some point. That's their MO until they prove otherwise.

Best way to connect 6 awg to 14 awg stranded wire

I would look at something like this: https://www.knukonceptz.com/product/bassik-4-way-4-to-8-gauge-distribution-ground-block/ They also sell reducers/adapters. They're high end stuff in the car audio field. I have a couple battery adapters in my car - had them for years without issue.

How bad of an idea is this for OB support while trailering?

Gee...on our first outboard, my dad used a shoe string to tie a small wooden block(had a groove cut into it for the shoe string) between the outboard and bracket. Lowered the motor onto it and away we went. Incredibly simple to install/remove...and cheap! On the Force I had, which was replaced...

    Livewell design

Pretty sure mine is setup with the intake to pump to spray bar inside the livewell. The spray bar has a valve on it to control how much water is coming from the pump. The drain and overflow are connected to a discharge port above the water line. In my humble opinion...introducing multiple...

Is There a Repair Kit for Corrosion on the Gymbal Housing?

Any welder worth his/her salt can do that with their eyes closed. I wouldn't hesitate to track down a TIG welder to have them address it. They'll build it up with a bead or three then grind it back down to match the existing.

    One more old Boat Rescue

Anything in that price range should be considered a complete rehab. I know, I've been looking for a 2nd boat for my kids to use when they get a few years older. 16'-18' Aluminum boat would be a good starting point if you're on a tight budget. A couple sheets of ACX/BCX plywood, sealed with old...

Is There a Repair Kit for Corrosion on the Gymbal Housing?

I had a timing chain cover that looked like that. Gave it to a certified welder and you would be very hard pressed to tell its repaired. Honestly, skip the epoxy band aid and go get it done right the first time.

    1970 Astro

With all that extra wood trim on the transom and under the cleats, I would not be shocked if a total redo was in order. A manufacturer wants to get the boat out the door asap to maximize profit. All that wood trim on the motor, under the cleats, and tacked onto the transom defeats that purpose.
