Buff out scrapes and scratches in gel coat?

I recently pulled the boat out of storage and removed the heat shrink. Unfortunately where the rope was tied around the hull, it scraped and chafed the hull. Plus I think the guy that did it nicked some of the gel coat. It isn't down to the glass but there are some noticeable scratches. What...

Water not circulating through engine and out

I just fired up the engine, with the muffs on and the water isn't circulating through. I let it run for about a minute and nothing. It's spitting little bits of anti freeze but that's it. I replaced the impeller in the water pump last fall. All connections look good, no water leaking in the...

20 Pumps of Grease in the Gimble Bearing - Bravo 3

Good morning all. There's a zerk on the Bravo 3 that I have to grease the bearing. My grease gun didn't seem to have a whole lot of pressure, so as opposed the the 10 pumps the Merc manual said to do, I did 20. Is my boat going to explode now? LOL!!! :)

2" Hole Cover for my Dash/Helm- What to use?

This weekend I replaced the existing 05 Clarion receiver with a wired helm remote on the Sara Belle. (What a project) The new remote for the new Sony was bigger so I had to install it in a different location. So now I have a 2"-2.5" hole on my dash. What can I use to cover it, that kinda'...

This weekend I updated and installed an new sound system for the Sara Belle. It had a 2005 Clarion with a wired remote at the helm. While updating to a Sony wired remote, the Sony will not fit in the same hole as the Clarion remote. I also did not have room, where the existing Clarion remote...

    Cables and Cocktails

Whew!!! Thank goodness it cocktail time and we've reached over 70 degrees, pretty much the first time since last Oct. I thought I'd share that I installed a whopping 8 pairs of cables today. 6am-5pm. My hand is all chewed up from glass. One thing is for sure, if you don't know your boat...

Guest 2611A 10amp Dual Battery Charger

I purchased the charger mentioned in the title yesterday at West Marine with the Guest Connect charge outlet. Can this charger be mounted horizontally? On my Weekender, there is a location to mount a charger that was an option in 2007 and it's not on a side wall. It was mounted on a platform...

    Backing Plates

I am (will be that is, snow outside) in the process of adding a new stainless steel anchor roller and cleat on the bow of my boat. There is an anchor locker at the bow so I will have access to fasten the bolts. Once measured, it should be a pretty straight forward job. Last week, I went to...

This Little Guy Kept Me From Working on the SaraBelle

Well, I had big plans this weekend to get started on Springtime maintenance, installing a new sounds system, SeaDek, etc. I typically bring my boat home from the marina to do work because all of my tools are at home...makes sense. When I got to the marina and the hitch wouldn't go on. When...

    Transom Savers for I/O's?

When towing, does anyone, or should you use a transom saver on an I/O? I have a Bravo 3 which is a fairly large outdrive. I usually turn it to one side when towing. Just curious. Thanks, Ollie

    Bravo 3 Drain Plugs

Last Fall I replaced all of my fluids filters etc. while winterizing. Now I'm kinda' in a pickle because I read somewhere that it's safe insurance to replace the drain plugs on the outdrive, along with the paper gasket. I had quite a mess going last fall with draining my outdrive, dropping the...

    Adding a Swim Platform

I am currently thinking about a swim platform for my 215. The price seems a little high from Swim Platforms.com, however so does everything for the boat. Anyway, those of you that have added a swim platform from SwimPlatforms.com, and have stern drives , have you had any issues with access to...
