    Salt Life's logo font...?

Does anyone know the name of the font that Salt Life uses for their logo? I want to have my boat name done in that 'pirate' style lettering....

    'Dog house' insulation...anyone done this?

I see where Bayliner is bragging that their 2009 bow rider line, has sound insulation in their engine box covers (dog house). Not a bad idea...has anyone ever done this to their engine cover? Seems simple enough. Just need to figure out what would work the best, and be flexible enough to...

How to 'hook' a shop tach to a 3.0L...?

I have a very accurate automotive shop tach...that I need to know how to use with a Mercruiser 3.0L (SN OWO39755). I intend to set my idle speed, on the water...as outlined in the service manual. The 'old' days, of clipping the tach to the negative post of the ignition coil...seem to be long gone!

Mercruiser 3.0 oil pressure alarm switch...desperate need for help!

I am about to receive the oil pressure switch for my 2005 Mercruiser 3.0...and I cannot get a clear answer, from any of the local dealers, as to where this alarm switch screws into my engine block. I installed the water temperature switch, and it works as advertised (sits next to the temp guage...

Where can I get some tan/blue wire...?

I received my Mercury temperature audible warning switch today...and installed it in my 2005 3.0L engine. Ran a length of trailer wire that I had laying around, to the tied off tan/blue wire in the engine harness (unused, but the engine harness was wired to the alarm buzzer at the helm)...

    Prop hits the trim tab....

I went to move my Quicksilver Stilleto prop from my old Alpha unit, to my newer Alpha Gen II lower unit...and the prop will not clear the Gen II anode trim tab. The trim tab on the 1985 circa Alpha is considerably smaller...should I (and can I) simply swap them?

    Greasing my Alpha Gen. II....

I have my grease gun loaded with the Quicksilver gimbal bearing grease...but there are also several hinge pin fittings that need to be greased. Do I have to go to the trouble of buying a second grease gun (and correct hinge pin grease)? Or can I just give the hinge pins a shot of gimbal...

2005 3.0 Mercruiser audio warning question

I am new to this 2005 Bayliner 175, w/3.0 Mercruiser...and I believe that the audio warning buzzer is supposed to sound, with the key in the ON position...before the engine is started. I have disconnected the buzzer, and when connected to a 12v source, screams away. The electrical schematic...

Correct knot for the anchor line?

Title says it all...what is the best knot to use for securing the anchor rope, to the anchor chain? Don't think that it matters...but the boat is a Bayliner 175.

Will my prop work on a 2005 Bayliner 175..?

I am picking up a 2005 Bayliner 175 next week...and I am hoping that my Mercury Stiletto (sp?) 19 pitch prop will work! I love this prop on my Mercruiser 470, and it would break my heart if it wasn't a good choice for the 3.0 engine. Anyone running a 19" pitch on their 175?

Replace the 3.7 (470)...or go to the 3.0?

I need to replace my Mercruiser 3.7 (470)...and I have lots of options. I can pick up a used 470...and it will drop right in. I can get a remanufactured 470 long block...there is an interesting one being sold on eBay...

    Manual winch suggestions....

I have a new (to me) 18' fiberglass, bowrider, w/Mercruiser 170 hp I/O. The trailer is a bunk setup...and I need to replace the boat winch. I have no idea of the weight of this boat. I am looking at the Fulton XLT Series 1800 lb. (5.1:1 gear ratio) winch w/strap, and the Road Warrior 2-speed...

'Tip of the hat' to iboats.com....

...for the really great Westland boat cover, that I found on this site! It was a 'clearance' item, that fit just great...and the price was awesome. This was my first purchase from this site's sponsored retailers...and iboats.com will be my first 'point of reference', for any future buying needs!

    Mercruiser trim senders....

Has anyone simply 'spliced' the wires on a new trim sender unit, to the existing wires...to prevent removing the Alpha drive unit? I can see where my wire has broken off right at the sending unit, and if I do it carefully (using a new unit, and sealing the splice), I would be willing to...
