boat will startup and then shut down

Any update? Went through exactly this same thing last spring. 99.9% that is an oil pressure switch.

Do manufactures install speakers not connected?

I think you might have mixed that up... A pair of 2 ohm speakers in parallel presents a 1 ohm load, which will fry a head unit. Need to have 2 - 2 ohm speakers in series to get 4 ohm, or 2 - 8 ohm in parallel. 99.999% of standard speakers installed by a mfg are going to be 4 ohm. Assuming...

5.3 Direct Injection Volvo motor carbon cleaning. Often a problem and done on 5.3 GM vehicles - why not on boats?

can't specifically speak of GM direct engine, but from what I've seen, non turbo direct injection engines don't really have much of an issue with carbonized valves. Turbo engines can be a little dirty, a air/oil separator does wonders. Most manufacturers have gone down the path of a +1...

    Buying and Selling Online

define 'online'. Are you talking an ebay type transaction where you don't ever see/touch it in person first, or just an online ad? Anyway, most frustrating part.. no shows. I've almost given up selling anything in person online. Way too many people will line up x number of say vehicles to...

    Engine bay blower question

You just turned your boat into a potential bomb... (and violated coast guard regulations) There is a reason primer bulbs aren't allowed on inboards. Way too high of a potential for the rubber to dry out, crack, and leak. You shouldn't need to crank very long, there is an anti-drainback...

    Trapped air after filter change

Have never pre-filled a filter. Just screw it on and go. Carbs should have no problem purging air, the float bowl will be empty and all the air will be rushing through until it gets fuel.

    Oil Filter, alt brands

Get yourself a WIX filter (57099). It is equal or most likely better than OEM.

ATV and moving boat around on stone

A decent sized utility SxS will move that around, but I doubt any ATV will. Just not enough weight &/or suspension capacity.

Stupid mistake: Can it be fixed?

The starter will absolutely die, might take a week, might be next year. Once they are submerged the clock starts ticking.

    Additional bilge compartment?

Time to jump over to the restoration forum, but... That looks like a massive amount of work ahead of you to get that seaworthy. Boats rot from the bottom up, so by the time the floor is soft, so are your stringers and transom.

    Swim ladders

One wrong slip, and you are chumming the water with your blood! Yes, i've done that myself, but that is a lawsuit waiting to happen if someone else uses your ladder.

    Power/towing question

what exactly was done during winterization? Did they pull the plugs and fog? A 6 cylinder that is running on 5 can sound surprisingly smooth but will lack power.

    Trim gauge creeping higher

So in the last month or two, my trim gauge has been slowly moving higher. The full down position is now in the middle of the gauge. Haven't had a chance to break out the meter yet, but is this typically a bad sender or bad gauge? (And a pic, just because I'm looking at the gauge now!)

    Sterndrive

Forcing stuff means breaking it... Are you sure your shifter is lined up? Separating the upper/lower makes it harder. The easiest is to do what bondo mentioned. Build your own stern drive holder out of scrap lumber, line it up, and then as you start to slide it in, rotate the prop...

    Stereo amp wire install

Either work, but I like connecting directly to the house battery, with an appropriate fuse of course.

    4.3 liter, the DC-10 of I/Os...

A 4.3l is probably one of the most reliable, if not the most reliable, I/O engines you can find in a boat. Threads tell you nothing, because the 4.3l is also probably the most common.

Risks Of Having Wireless Camera In The Engine Room?

That camera is entirely DC powered, and very low voltage. Effectively as close to zero chance of a spark as you could get.

    starter

What engine? Why was the previous starter replaced? Is the new starter aftermarket or OEM?

    Winterize

Some times you just have to trust others after you give them money. Do you test your oil that put into the engine BEFORE you put it in? Someone could have screwed up and mis-labeled it. Did you do an ultrasonic test of all the welds on your trailer before taking it down the highway? Did you...
