    Oil coming out of pinhole on lower unit

    Just below the cavitation plate. Didn't leak before, but lower unit was just off for impeller replacement. No visible traces of water in the lower unit oil. Are we looking at a bad gasket, seal or ??? Not sure where the oil would be coming from specifically internally.

    Looking at a 1973 100hp Evinrude on Saturday. The guy is asking for $500 without controls. Initially it looks like a clean motor. What can a guy reasonably expect to see/find on a visual inspection? He says he can test compression for us, anything over 100psi and even across the cylinders...

    Older engines, what to avoid

    I'm going to be looking for an engine for my Glastron in the next couple of years once I've finished fixing it, and I can't afford a shiney new 4 stroke. There are so many older motors out there to choose from for so much less and I don't mind something that I might have to do a little work...
