    As I was dropping thge lower unit on my '66 Evinrude 18hp (18602C) today, I noticed it looked a lot like the lower unit on my '57 Johnson 10hp (QD18).     Is an RDSL-23 just the long shaft version of a 1961 Johnson RDS-23 40hp? The shaft only measured 18.5" from mount to cavplate though... shouldn't it be more like 20"? and what are those wacko wing things sticking out the back for? thx :)
