Best prop for 5.0L OMC

1988 Bayliner, 5.0L OMC, King Cobra. Has OEM Michigan Wheel, 3 blade, 14.5", 19 pitch alum. prop. Want good hole shot and top end (who doesn't). I got around 45 mph at 4500 RPM with three on board in lite chop, I think I can do better.

Thinking of similar style prop but for some...

Gelcoat, Glass, Both or forget about it?

I had my 1988 Bayliner on the wash rack when I happened to stick my head in the bildge and looked towards the bow. The sun was setting in the same direction and much to my dismay I saw a bright glow. There are no cracks just a glow from the sunlight through the glass with no gelcoat on the...

    Bayliner Trim Gauge

My 1988 5.0L, OMC does not have a trim gauge. I've seen pics from other forum members with the exact same boat that has a factory trim gauge on the right hand side of the instrument panel cluster. What would it take to add one? Should I even try to locate a OEM version? Should I condsider an...

1989 OMC 5.0L in and out

Should I feather the throttle into and out of gear or do it quickly? If I go slowly into forward or reverse I hear the clack, clack, clack of the spindle (or whatever makes this noise) until I advance it enough for it to grab. If I go quickly, I get a ka-thud and I'm in. Niether of these seem...

Soft spot in floor...wanted no more!

I have a 1988 Bayliner 1950BR. Save the jokes, I like my boat. Thankfully, I have only one small soft spot as I've read these boats can be prone to problems.

The boat is dry stacked year round which hopefully helps. Anyway the spot is back by the engine cowling on the part of the...

5.0L OMC Cobra WOT RPM and prop questions

Over the weekend I got a chance to open up the boat with just a small chop from some wind. I had two others in the boat for a total of three (myself included). I had about a half tank of gas. The hull has not been buffed in years so I’m sure there is some drag, which I’ll addess in the...

    5.0L OMC RPM and prop?

Well I've done as asked and clicked through the universe first to no avail, so here goes...I have a 1988 Bayliner with a 5.0L and Cobra Stern drive. I'm trying to find out the factory recommended RPM range at WOT. I think it's a Chevy, distributor is aft. I have a Michigan Wheel prop 14.5 x...
