    confused on prop change

Help me understand this?.2001 Maxum 2100 with merc 5.0. rpm range should be 4400-4800 WOT. With an older Merc 48-78120 19P prop 4 people and our normal load of equipment, skis etc it would only run 4000-4100. Trimed full down. Changed to a new powertech 17P same load 42 maybe4300 rpm. I was...

    prop change ?'s

I have an OE Mercury prop 48-78120 (19P) behind a 5.0 alpha one. Currently with average load it only pulls 4000-4100rpm, I am going to get a new prop probably 17P to try and get rpms up a little bit. I have a couple questions regarding this change. 1) I don?t want or need anything fancy...

    rochester to holley

Anybody know of an adapter to put a Holley 2 barrel on in place of a Roch 2g carb. Im tired of messing with the rochester, the holley is much easier to work on and parts are easier to find.

    vent hole help

'87, Bayliner, 3.0 OMC runs great no problems whatsoever cruising, or tubing, but when we try to pull a skier, there is a slight hesitation/bog off idle, but once it revs a little it pulls good from there up. It seems like its just under powered (which it prob is) with that much load, and...

    rochester 2G float drop

Rebuilding a Rochester 2G, setting the floats, the float drop calls for 1 29/32, but when i took it apart it was closer to 1 10/32. If I set it to 1 29/32 like the sheet calls for the float drops so far the needle gets bound up and sticks open. Is this a misprint?

    Rochester 2G hesitation?

I have an older 87 bayliner, with a 3.0 and OMC outdrive. it runs great but it has a hesitation just off idle. It happens when you put it in gear its fine but then start to throttle up, the very initial throttle application almost kills it if you nurse it through that it is fine. Doesnt seem...

    Prop Pitch ?'s

All of the info i see about props talks about running it at WOT to see if you are in the power band or not. But my question is, if we rarely ever run at WOT, should i really be concerned with top speed. More often we are pulling a tube or skiers, and top speed is not a concern, even without...

    bayliner 3.0 omc prop help

Need some suggestions. 1987 18' Bayliner with 3.0, OMC outdrive. Needless to say its a little slow out of the water, but it will get the job done. We usually have 4-5 adults in and somtimes pulling a tube. It has a 15P stock prop on it right now, but it will overrev by 2-300 rpm at WOT...
