    I just bought a 1994 23 ft sundancer with a 5L mercruiser in it.The previous owner replaced the engine in spring 2003.Seems he did'nt winterize the boat,and the block cracked.He showed me the receipts for the work he had done,and the boat seems to run fine.My question is should I be worried...

    synthetic or merc. oil ?

    Anyone know the truth about using non merc oil in I.O. engines? Mercruiser claims you should only use their oil ,but I prefer to use synthetic.Engine is not under warranty so I'm not worried about voiding it. I was going to use 10 w 50 in a 5L engine. <br /><br /> Jim :confused:

    I am looking to buy a used (1996) wellcraft excel,and can't find info on the engine.It is a mercruiser with a 4.3lxgen+.     mercruiser 4.3 lxgen+ specs

    I am looking at buying a used boat with a with a 4.3 lxgen+ engine. I am familiar with a 4.3 engine but have never heard of the gen+ suffix and can't find any info online. The engine is a 1996 model.Any info would be appreciated. <br /> thanks
