    mid 70's johnson 6, water leak at intake??????

    looking at buying what looks like a mid 70's johnson 6hp ( just from pics on the ad) . the seller says it has a small water leak at the intake manifold. i cant quite make that story add up......whats the most probable cause of a water leak on that end of the motor???? thanks

    just curious as to why some new threads get closed, ive read all the rules and recent revisions , but in some cases (ex. "other outboard brands".....british seagull, i can see no reason why the thread was closed) ??????

    1985 johnson 6 hp......hot leg???

    just got through test running a 1985 johnson 6hp in a barrel, starts good, runs good , pumps plenty of water. but the leg/ midsection seems to be getting overly hot. what could cause that?...or is it even an issue? ( lu was submerged abaout 4 inches above the impeller)

    poll: yay or nay? coca-cola paint scheme?

    im considering painting my 57 johnson 5 1/2 in coca-cola colors and having the coke decals made, it would be coca-cola classic of course. ( dont give me grief about trade mark infringement!!!) im torn between re-doing it as it was or doing the coke paint job. any thoughts?

    mid 80's 9.9 four stroke mid section

    trying to help a friend out, who has no internet. he has a mid 80,s 9.9 4 stroke yammy and the mid section is corroded beyond being servicable. ( i appologize for not having a model number). where would be the best place to look for a replacement part at a reasonable price? thanks tim

    1985 6hp prop thrust washer

    is the brass thrust washer thats located between the drive pin and the prop necessary? ( i just swapped lu's and the original prop is in better shape, but the drive pin will not go in with that prop intalled, and they are identical props, seems like the hub is in about 1/16 to far on the good prop?)

    looking at an ad for a 1974 johnson 6, still in the box, advertised with original bill of sale, has never been started. whats a rough guess at the value? ( i was thinking of offering $600???)

    cd 13/14 16:1 mix with full synthetic?

    can you use full synthetic oil in the 16:1 motors?( cd 13/14 in this case) if so, how noticible would the reduction in smoke and oil discharge from the exhaust be , over using just the cheap wal-mart ob oils?

    shift rod swap....from a 1990 omc 8hp to a 91 lu?

    can i put the shift rod from a 1990 omc 8hp into a 1991 lu? the tops of the rods are very different and the shift cam has a different part #. just thought someone may know before i buy the 1991 lu. thanks

    to canadian members....where to buy new parts???

    is there any place in canada, with reasonable prices, where i can get omc and sierra parts? i just went through the marineengine site, filled my cart, it added up to about $150 usd, shipping was around $25 ( no problem), canadian taxes, about $20 ( no problem)......but to pay a customs broker...

    omc 6hp vs 8hp...same gear ratio?

    from what i can see, the omc 6 and 8 hp have the same gear ratio.....or am i missing something? is the only difference between these motors the prop? one is a 1985 6hp, and the other a 1990 8 hp. (in reguards to the lu of course!)

    lower unit seals .... 1985 6hp johnson

    anyone ever re-sealed the lu on one of these? ( j6rcob) i have just gotten into my cd 13 split case lu, and that seems pretty straight forward, but the one piece on the 1985 looks a bit intimidating. any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. tim
