    6hp, 1974, removing shifter bushing in lower unit

    Hello, I'd like to remove and replace the bushing and oring for the shifter rod in the lower unit of my 1974 Johnson 6hp. I have a bad water leak into the gear case and I think the oring for the shifter rod is the problem. Do I need to make a special puller for this bushing or can i bump it...

    1974, 6hp fuel pump swapping

    I need a new fuel pump or a kit for this motor. They don't have a kit for 1974, but do have a kit for 1984 and maybe earlier models. Did the fuel pumps for the 6hp change significantly during those 10 years? I'm hoping I can buy a kit for a later model pump and put it in my 1974 model. Thanks...

    Temperature of powerhead?

    I have a 35hp , 1978. I rebuilt the powerhead myself(had the block bored by a local marine shop), first time delving into an outboard. It started up nicely, water was coming out of the pee hole in a steady stream, but the powerhead seems to be running too hot. Very quickly the head gets too hot...
