Is 17ft long enough for a tournament bass boat?

Wow ok lol, I had no idea insurance was such a big deal in large tournaments. Hopefully the small tournaments near me don’t require this 😅. When it comes to live wells they do appear to be a little on the smaller size but it does have two of them, so I may be able to make do, I’ll measure them...

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

Hello everyone, I am going to look at an old fiberglass project bass boat tomorrow and I’m wondering what tools I should bring to give it a once over?

Is 17ft long enough for a tournament bass boat?

Well as far as speed goes reviews of this boat say that it should be able to go over 60mph even 70. It’s got one of those old in-line 6 150hp Mercury tower of power motors on it and it seems like those motors are rockets lol, at least in their day they were one of the biggest outboards money...

Is 17ft long enough for a tournament bass boat?

Hello everyone, I am looking into buying an old 17ft fiberglass bass boat and I hope to fish in at least some tournaments but I have a dilemma. From what I’ve researched it seems like they say you need to have to have like a 20 foot bass boat to fish in tournaments effectively, but all of the...

    Evinrude 8hp lower unit seals

I changed the lower unit oil last year and I really didn’t notice any water but I wasn’t checking lol, I had just started working on outboards. The water in the test bucket turns milky when I run it. Is that normal?

    Evinrude 8hp lower unit seals

Hello everyone. I have an old Evinrude 8hp outboard that runs great, but when I test it in a bucket of water, the water gets cloudy which I believe means it needs lower unit seals. I know they have oil stop leak for car engines, would it be okay to try that in the lower unit before tearing it apart?

Can you mount a kicker motor on a fiberglass bass boat?

Hello everyone, I’m purchasing a 17ft Glasstream bass boat with a 150hp Merc on it. Most of the lakes in my area are horsepower restricted so I won’t get much use out of the Merc but I don’t want to remove it. I have a little Evinrude 8hp I would like to mount next to it as kicker motor like...

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

I will definitely do that. I am prepared to tear this thing down to the stringers if I have to, I’m not afraid of the work and in fact find it enjoyable. It’s kind of like rebuilding a vintage car to me lol. Btw, I like your profile pic lol.

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

Thanks for the links. I spoke with the seller more and thank goodness the scrape doesn’t go all the way through the fiberglass so it should be a simple total boat structural putty/ gel coat touch up and it will be good to go. Also he showed me inside the compartments and under the deck, and...

    Cimarron bass boats

Hello everyone, I’m looking into buying a 1988 cimarron bass boat in good condition. I’ve never heard of this brand however, we’re they any good back in the day?

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

Do you think the foam and stringers will be ruined? The guy says the deck and transom are still solid with no issues. How can I check the boat for rot without tearing it apart lol? I don’t think flex seal will be an option this time 😂. Also, where can I find a cheap suitable paint to touch up...

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

Can this be repaired? The guy says that the boat doesn’t leak and did fine in the water for hours at a time after the damage. I don’t believe the boat has been in the water for a while though.

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

Hello everyone, I am looking into buying an old fiberglass bass boat. The hull is in good shape except for a 8” long scrape on the bottom of the boat that cut through the gel coat. The owner claims that it doesn’t leak at all and had no problem being on on the water for hours on end. Should I be...

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

I don’t think the hull of the boat will require too much, it is a project boat but it really doesn’t need too much. The hull still floats and does not leak, the deck is original and still solid, and the transom is still solid. As far as I could tell the only damage to the hull is an 8” keel...

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

Hello everyone. I’m considering buying a 1984 Glasstream Hydrabass with a Mercury tower of power 150hp on it as a project boat. Do any of you know if Glasstream boats were any good quality compared to like a Ranger or something? I can hardly find any info on them online. Thanks for any help you...
