    I know is a rough estimate but I went to the Mercury prop selector site and this is what it came up with for my current set up, when it had the 3.0 I used the same prop, and the calculator recommended the same prop. I have a ton to learn about props.

    If I am going from a 14” 19p to a 16” 13p prop does anyone know how many Roma I will gain? I got a 13p being delivered tomorrow to see if anything I have done has changed anything. In the beginning I tried a prop change with no rpm difference

    Ok I took the intake off and resealed it, measured the cam lobes by rocker movement all intake and exhaust within around .005” of each other, obviously distributor re stabbed, I have to wait until tomorrow for the sealant to cure before running any more tests, piston stop tool will be here...

    I installed the new distributor and it did finally go into base timing, but no help . I am doing the vacuum check now, any idea of range I’m looking for?

    I am sticking with the delco, the thunderbolt was a 1996 or 1997, everything was almost 25 years old, and very expensive. Not to be a dumb a$$ but can someone answer when you go into base mode will the Rpm’s change? On my 3.0 it jumped a couple hundred rpm, when I try it on the 5.7 there...

    Thanks everyone for the things to check , keep the ideas coming. I am going back to the boat tomorrow with a new distributor, new timing light, and I bought a piston stop. Let me know if y’all have anymore ideas.

    The distributor has a two wire connector that comes out of the center of the distributor, I assume for the pick up, does it sound like it’s bad to you? Is this distributor known for failing?

    It has new plug wires , rotor cap, rotor button, I’m on my third ignition module. Plugs are new from when I rebuilt it and maybe 8 hours on them. They are the Ngk iridium and when I did the compression check they were not fouled. Between rotor cap and plug wire has consistent spark I’m going...

    I can’t see the line on the balancer for awhile, then all of a sudden I can and it moves up about an inch then back to where I set it
