    1987 5.7 omc outdrive

I’m still not sure, I was cruising at 28mph than out of no where there was a loud clanking sound, lots of vibration than a crap ton of marbles in a washing machine. So for sure it’s beat.

    1987 5.7 omc outdrive

Hey guys, need some help here. I was coming in from my last trip on the lake for the season and my outdrive blew out if no where. Not sure what happened but **** happens. My question is can I mix and match my 5.7 omc engine with other outdrive? Or do I have to replace it with another omc...

5.7 1987 OMC shuts off at Low RPM

So maybe my issue could be a combination of this and a dirty carb. I was at the boat yesterday and I tightened the belt and everything is back to normal with the alternator, 14.4 volts at idle. Now the carb. I threw in some seafoam and after I burn this tank of gas, if the problem is not fixed I...

5.7 1987 OMC shuts off at Low RPM

So it’s been about 2 weeks and I didn’t touch nothing on the motor. Some times it’s doing it some times it’s not. I wonder if maybe I should throw some sea foam in the gas and get that carb cleaned 🧼

5.7 1987 OMC shuts off at Low RPM

Ok Lou, thanks again. So the cap and everything was replaced last year so that’s all good. And yes the boat shifts super smooth from gear to neutral and vise versa. But it only stalls at low rpms. When I’m giving it gas she’s going like no tmr. The carb is aloe Very clean. I did clean the valve...

5.7 1987 OMC shuts off at Low RPM

Thanks a lot Scott and Lou, do I need the boat out of the water to adjust the esa and shift cable? I think it’s just the esa, when I shift it’s very smooth.

5.7 1987 OMC shuts off at Low RPM

Hello everybody, good morning or good night, whenever your reading this. I have a 26” Bayliner ciera with a 5.7 omc 1987. So the issue is that the boat runs nice and smooth at high rpm ( 4500) nice spot for the engine. But today when I was going back Into the marina, I was getting ready to dock...

    1987 5.7 omc

Thanks for the reply Scott, would it hurt to try the 21 pitch for 1 trip ? Because with this 15pitch if i give it 100% gas I will reach 5000rpm in a heartbeat. I was hitting 4300ish at around 60% throttle +/-. And the gear ratio is actually 1.31:1 sorry

    1987 5.7 omc

Hey everyone, just wondering what the RPM should be on my engine while at WOT. It’s a 1987 5.7 omc with a 1.41:1 outdrive. I have a 15 1/2x 15 right now and at 1/2 or 3/4 throttle I think I’m doing 4300rpm and 30mph. I have a stainless steel prop that is 14 1/4 x 21. I want to see if I can swap...

1989 5.7 OMC engine turns but won’t fire

Hello, my first time asking a question here on iboats. I have a 1989 5.7 OMC and I was out last night, engine turned on fine, ran perfectly and out of no where while I was coming in to port the engine died. I tried to start it back up, the starter was turning but it won’t fire. I’m not sure what...

    5.7 omc outdrive

I just got a 1989 Doral Tara and I need to change the gear oil. I looked on YouTube on how to do it and some guys are filling it from the bottom up and some from the middle up. What is correct way, don’t want to have the gears break on me and have to spend 3 grand on a new outdrive cheers Nick
