    Chrysler 20hp off and on water coming from indicator

    So, finally got my 1971 chrysler 20hp outboard running. Ran it in a 55 gallon barrel. When I first start it, water sprays out indicator perfectly when idling. Once i give it a little throttle and go back to idle, there is very, very little water coming out of the indicator.it looks like no water...

    what size jon boat?

    Hope I posted this in the right thread... I have a 20hp chrysler outboard long shaft(1971) and was wondering, how big of a jon boat would I need to put that motor on safely? Would I need a V-hull aluminum boat because it's a longshaft?

    Originally I had no spark from one coil. I cleaned the points and set them to.020. I then had spark from that coil.     1971 Chrysler 20hp outboard sitting in pieces for 25 years

    I have a 1971 20hp outboard. It has been sitting in pieces for 25 years. I am going to try to get it running and put it on a jon boat. I think one coil is bad. How do I know that the coil is bad and it is not the points? I also need to know what type of spark plugs it takes and the gap. Thanks.
