    mike, nh...hey thanks alot for the reply. my first boat has a 1970/71 merc 65hp thunderbolt ignition 650 . how much time do i have left to get this winterized, will they need to get it started in order to winterize the o/b, if so that this will give me i good idea on the motors condition: correct ?

    this is for outboards like my merc 65hp thunderbolt that has been garaged and not in use for a few years, but should run. with a gas/oil mixture like mine what should i expect going to a mechanic and hearing the worse case senario because of the bad fuel in the sytem for so long

    just purchased a 1972 glastron v156 with a mercury thunderbolt 65hp that i was told by the owners was last run in 2004-05. oil/gas mix. they said not use the fuel in the existing gas can. what is winterizing the motor, i was told i would need to do this.. thanks
