    Got a free boat!

You are probably looking at a massive dmv bill, but there is a chance they won't have record of it. If it was an automobile, there is no doubt they would have record of it, but boats are more spotty record wise. If you can't apply for a lost title because you don't know the previous owner...

    ....stocking up for Corona virus

Yes, exactly like that actually. Pre covid you would meet your surgeon without a mask. It lessens the tension for the patient by seeing a human face. A dental hygienist will develop trust with a child and attempt to put them at ease long before they mask up and begin working. Faceless...

    Trolling motor attachment

I am going to install a minn kota plate on top of a motorguide plate and I'm not sure how I want to do it. My options are drilling through the motorguide plate and using toggle nuts, or tapping 1/4" aluminum the MG plate. I am installing an 80lb thrust motor, and the existing nuts are...

Carbed Mercruiser 260 5.7L Missing Above 4000 RPMs

I wish mechanical pumps were actually as reliable as your mech thinks they are.

    Going electric vs marinas

Tesla has the best EV battery today, yet it is only a slightly better version than the NCA batteries of 20+ years ago. Subsidies make ancient technology profitable, and it hinders the energy storage breakthrough we need to make EV's much other than a political statement. I'd be first in line...

Is an aluminum steel prop better than stainless?

Is "aluminum steel" a marketing gimmick or something? The fact that nobody mentioned it makes me wonder.

    Going electric vs marinas

The thought of stealing from my unborn grandchildren to subsidize uneconomical electric vehicles today makes me sick.

    ....stocking up for Corona virus

North and south Dakota. I just remembered I went to the doctor once, so there was 3 times I wore a mask. There were a few businesses that required masks, but there were plenty of other options so you could spend someplace else. I'd guess the lack of covid impact on my life is just as crazy...

    ....stocking up for Corona virus

Man, that seems like a world away. I've worn a mask twice, and I can't fathom the psychological impact of everyone wearing a mask for months on end.

    Boat Check list

Ha, I have 6" clear, but I have to park the tandem trailer at an angle in the garage. Took less than a minute to back her in, but took 15 minutes to get the dang thing out. If I ever park it in the garage again I'm going to take a pic of the angle of the truck before I unhook. That was a...

    Boat Check list

The "check engine on muffs" lead me to believe you might trim down to start the engine on muffs. My mistake

    Boat Check list

Ah, must be an outboard, as it is terrible to run an I/O on muffs while trailer trimmed, and hard on the bellows to store in that position also.

    Boat Check list

Yes, we are talking about different things. Pre-departure is before you even leave the house. No sense in waiting until you drag a skeg down the driveway to add it to the list.

    Boat Check list

Just read it 3 times and it isn't there, but I will agree to disagree.

    Boat Check list

Trim up is not on your predeparture list. I swear I check that at least 3 or 4 times.

Preignition knock under a load 2000 Thunderbolt 5

I think I've read that you have to ground the timing wire before you start the engine, and shut it off before disconnecting it from ground. I could be wrong though, as I've never messed with a thunderbolt. Is it pinging only at wot, or just cruising too?

New Long Block, Cranks and Won't Start

You can check timing with a light while cranking too. Obviously you'd want to do a final with it running, but it takes the guesswork away.

    Bearing buddies full of grease???

The piston moving outward indicates it is full of grease. Adding more grease can blow the seal out the back defeating the whole purpose. Dont be confused by people saying you should add more grease, as you can add as much as you'd like with the ez lube system. Just don't do it with bearing...

    fuel pump frustration

GM built their reputation on "cheapest" so things like this aren't uncommon. Other than a quick spray of carb cleaner and some red and tacky grease, I'm out of ideas.
