    when did the Merc 165 go from I6 to 4

    I have an I6 and I have read about the 165 4 cyc as a trouble engine (470). WOuld the i6 have more torque than the 4? I would assume so.

    Explorer Bumper Hitch - Should I use this or add a frame hitch?

    I have a 2200 lb 1974 Bonanza (has anyone ever heard of this boat company?) with a 165 merc i/o. I am using an explorer 2wd with the bumper hitch. No problems yet, but I notice a number of explorers with larger hitches. Am I taking a major risk by using this trailing method?

    I have a 1976 Mercruiser 165HP Straight 6 that was rebuilt with 150 or so hours. I have access to a 1989 Wellcraft with a trashed 175 hp. Mercruiser. What are the main things I need to be aware of for a motor swap. I am assuming I will be using a boat shop hoist to get the block into place.
