40 grit sandpaper ok for paint removal?

I started to strio the paint off of my '67 Starcraft aluminum hull today and noticed alot of shiny specs on the ground. I'm using a 5" sanding disc in my Craftsman drill on the low setting. As stated the sandpaper is 40 grit.

    Question on proper wheel/tire size.

I'm going to bite the bullet and replace the wheels and hubs on my trailer. It carries a 16' aluminum Starcraft with a 50 HP outboard. Are 4.8-8 tires and wheels sufficient and if so, will they hold up if I was to upgrade to say a 100 hp. outboard? Or do I need to step up to the 5.7x8?

Does bare aluminum need to be protected?

I'm getting ready to take the sander to an aluminum boat that I want to repaint. IS it ok to leave the newly exposed aluminum bare without primer as long as I clean it with spirits before priming and paint?

Do I NEED suspension on a boat trailer??

I have a trailer that has both coil springs and shocks. Can't find replacement hubs that fit so I'm thinking about switching the axel to a plain one with no suspension. My boat is a 1967 Starcraft with a 50 HP outbpard. Is this doable?

I'm trying to replace the hubs on my trailer of unknown manufacture and unknown age. The thing is that it's a 4x4 pattern but I need a hub that measures three and a half inches long from top to bottom. Both of the replacements I bought both measured four inches and when instaled, the bearing was...

    Lower gear case lube confusion.

I was looking today on how to check my gearcase lube. I followed the directions and nothing came out so obviously I need to put some in. However the manual states to fill it through the fill/drain hole until it comes out of the vent hole on the top of the skeg?? Won't it spill out of the fill...

Need help with 50 hp sparkplug wire replacement...

I just received my new Force manual today (Clymer) and saw no mention on how to change the plug wires. One of mine on the boat I just got has a tear on the boot just over the metal clip that secures to the plug. When I followed where it went, it went under a bunch of wires and into a black...

If you need Clymer manual for Force outboards....

Amazon.com has them for a little over $30 shipped. That's for a new manual. It's also cheaper than the one I was bidding on Ebay for which was used.

    Force Power Tilt questions...

I noticed that my 50 hp Force won't hold the motor in the "up" posistion for very long without the motor lowering itself back down. At firsat I thought it was because there was no battery attached to it, but even when I left it connected, it still did it. I got looking and felt the bottom of the...

OH NO!! Is this even fixable??

So, how can I fix these issues?

So I bought my first boat about a month ago and have these isseus. First as you can see the loop you hook the winch on seems to be " pulling " out of the front. Will 3M marine silicone seal it sufficiently? Next, these look like patch jobs. How can I tell if the floor is wood or fiberglass...
