Gas tank leak check - where, how?

Where could I take my gas tank to be checked for leak? I am rebuilding my BL and I don't want to drop $300 for a new tank if I don't need, yet I don't want to put one in if it leaks. So, any ideas how to check if it holds the pressure?

Floor (deck?) coating, one side, two sides ?

I am doing my stringers and transom with epoxy, so I am thinking to also do the floor (or is it called deck?) with epoxy. Now, I plan on using a water based sealer on the bottom, and then some quality paint. Since it is not going to be exposed to elements, it should last a long time. The top I...

    How much epoxy?

Ok, I want to use epoxy on my stringers and transom for glassing. Does anybody have any calc formula on how much to order? It is a 16 ft Bayliner, with two stringers. Also need a layup schedule for this type of application. If anybody can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

    How and what to grind?

Ok, I see a lot of mentioning of grinding in the forums. I am currently doing restore on my BL 1997 and this might be silly question, but what and how much do you grind. I am going to be removing stringers and transom. So I know I need to grid away what I cannot cut so it is flush, but do you...

    Repair or replace transom

I drilled some holes in my transom, and shavings are wet. I will be taking the cap off this week, but in regards to transom, given that wood is not rotten, just wet do I just cut the inner skin on transom, let it dry, glass over it and add one more layer and glass over it again. Or is it better...

Closed cell foam for stringer core?

I am thinking of following: 1. Cutting the tops of the stringer 2. Taking all the wood out, leaving glass in tact 3. Filling voids with a closed cell foam 4. Adding an 1'' thick wood at the top of the stringer so that floor can be screwed 4. Glass over the everything with epoxy so it would...

Hi, This is my first post in this forum. I just became an owner of 1997 Bayliner 1700 Capri. It has 90HP Force outboard. The floor is weak and I think I'll need to replace it. Before I start this adventure, I would like to read up a bit on fiberglass boat repair. Which book would you recommend?
