Hi guys, trying to help a friend here: he's got a 199? Evinrude (9.9hp) Starts fair ... but once fully trottle is opened (wot) it will only run at that speed for approx 20 seconds or so ... then decelerate to idle ... the dies.
Needs to be restarted with choke ON.
What do I look for in terms...
To y'awl's knowledge and experience, which oil would be more likely to have my 15hp Force smoke less. There is a lot of smoke back there ... especialy when troling or right after. I own a 1981 Johnson 9.9 that dont smoke at all.

Hi y'awl, My new acquisition, 1997 Force 15hp requires many pulls to start when cold, This bugs me. once started it will start real easy for the rest of the day ... dont have any clues for now and would like to read expert's comments on that.

As much as I appreciated using Amsoil Injector in my 1981 Johnson 9.9 ... I dont find the same result with my newer 1997 Force 15hp.<br /><br />This engine has probably less than 50 hours on it and may not be broken in properly yet ... (?)<br /><br />And if that is the case would it be possible...

I read many post with recommandation to use higher test gasoline (89-91) with Force motors only. why Force and not Mercs or Omc ?<br /><br />I have personaly been recommended to use higher grade with any motors due to lowering of quality of most gasoline.<br /><br />Tx
