1969 Chrysler 35 HP - new gear oil

I just changed the gear oil in my motor with my neighbours help. He had this little plastic pump with clear tube with a threaded end....said it cost him less than $20 at our local marina. Gotta get me one of these. I had no idea how much oil the lower unit would take, so I bought two litres of...

    new bearings are great!

I took my loaded trailer out for a test drive today to make sure the new bearings are holding up well. WOW! I couldn't even hear the trailer! It sounded like thunder before, but now it's completely silent! Feels like quite a bit less drag on the van when I let off the gas too. That is all.

    tilt trailer

My trailer has the built in tilt function....you hit the latch in the middle of the trailer and the whole frame of the trailer tilts from the main beam hitched to my van. Question....what the heck is this for? I haven't needed to use this. My trailer used to have rollers but I converted to...

first time - changed my own wheel bearings

So before I go up to the cottage this year I figured I should change my wheel bearings. I just bought my boat this year so I don't know *for sure* when anything was done to it. What I did know is that my seals were gone....so what the heck...lets change the bearings. good tip - don't take the...

seacast cost vs plywood transom repair

OK, this seacast stuff looks great, but seems really pricey. So, if you have to get all the old wood out anyway, why wouldn't you just put new wood into the transom and seal it up? Isn't that a cheaper and just as effective solution? I'm asking because I know my transom needs to be done this...

    cheap way to upgrade streering?

I have a 1969 Chrysler 35 hp motor on a 14' fg boat with the old style clothes line steering system. What is the best way to upgrade my steering to a newer style system? Is this teleflex nfb stuff my only option? Can someone give me an idea of rough costs to update? Anyone know of any good...

add tach & speedo to 69 chrysler 35 hp?

Is it possible to add a tach to a 69 chrysler 35 hp? I imagine I can add a speedo easy enough, because they're independent of the motor....but a tach would be nice for prop selection etc.

Grease nipple stuck in gun!!! wtf?

I just bought a brand new grease gun and some new marine grease to prep my trailer for my first trip to the lake, put the gun on the bearing buddy thing, pumped some grease in, went to pull it away and the nipple was stuck in the gun. And by stuck, I mean....friggin stuck! It will not come out...

    '69 Chrysler 35 hp - alternator?

Hi, How can I tell if my motor has an alternator built in? I know what one looks like in a car, but that isn't helping much here. Will this motor automatically charge my battery? It has electric start. I'm told that my motor is the 3542. Thanks, Pat

transom saver for old 35 hp motor w/o tnt

Hi Folks, This is my first post here, and probably won't be the last. I just bought and older 14' fg runabout with a 1969 Chrysler 35 hp motor. It runs good with lots of new parts installed etc. Anyway, there's barely a foot of clearance between the skeg and road when the motor is in the down...
