    Break In or Breaking?

    The two shops i looked into to rebuild my engine have the same break in procedure as in the Jonson manual except they say use 25:1 mix. The Jonson manual say 50:1. Anyone know why they would recommend twice the oil? 1980 35hp Johnson.

    Charging System Output

    Got myself a boat a few months ago and after installing a new battery I hooked up a volt meter to the battery with the engine running and the meter did go up but only a fraction of a volt. I did this in my driveway with the garden hose hooked up to the engine so I didnt rev the engine much above...

    Special tools for rebuild and specs

    I have a 1980 35 HP Johnson that will need a rebuild but I cant seem to find the specs i will need in my manual. The manual mentions piston and ring clearance but nothing on bearings or end play for crank. I have all my machine shop tools for checking out any specs but any other special tools...

    Fuel pump pressure

    Any one know what the fuel pump pressure should be for a 1980 Johnson two cycle should be? And what about shut off pressure? My guess is when the float valve closes the pump should stop pumping. How about the pulse pressure and or vacuum?

    compression

    Anyone have a clue as to what the compression should be on a Johnson 1980 35hp two cycle two cylinder shold be? The Selco online manual seems to go on forever about the difference between the two cylinders should be this or that but I have yet to find out what the psi should be.

    anyone know if my boat should have a separation plate between the exhaust manifold and elbow. Dont have one in there now and I am still overheating. Thought the separation plate was for close system. # 9 in the pic. Thanks
