    my motor was idling at 800 the fuel pump was about to crap after i replaced it i just cranked it and it sounded the same as before but was reading 1800 and giving it some fuel it seemed to fluctuate any ideas:confused:

    opinon on compression test

    My 81- 50 3 cyl tested out after warming 15 min in 54 degrees (probably should have let it go longer) anyhow #1 131 #2 121 #3 128 all with in 10% but since this is my 1st boat thought input from the best out here is not a bad idea

    gear on lower shift shaft

    i saw a pic somewhere in here but can't find it on the position of that gear i've got the lower unit in N but not sure what position to slide the gear on. I took the old lower unit off in N like my manual says to. but the new lower unit did not have this gear so need some help thanks

    any idea on how to get a shift pin out that is broke off flush with drive shaft :eek:

    I'm putting a new diaphram kit on the pump does any one think i should replace the check valves? It is a older motor. Holding them in hand and blowing in them they seem to work okay but there 27.00 bucks advice please

    lower unit compatabilty

    I was looking at a 86 lower unit that will fit 40-70hp . we all seem to have problems identifying my 3 cyl merc 50(83/84) but as close as we've got is a 70 with a 50 cowling anyhow do you think they will interchange

    ok i bought this boat 50 3 cyl merc put new impeller in noticed oil changed it took it out 2 times oil is bad again noticed prop wobbled guess there was a o ring in the kit that i tossed(dummy) so now what can i do the bearings looked good and felt tight if put new seals in won;t they wobble bad...

    anodes on alum

    i have a 81 grumman 15' alum (just got it) it has a anode on the motor or trim thing i was told that is one well i will be fishing in salt and was wondering do i need more it is a 50 hp merc and where to put more if i need them
