    The plate was about 12 to 14 inch square. it had a 30 inch bar that ran at an angle from the plate to the stringer the motor used to bolt thru. On the transom there was a u channel that the outboard bracket bolted thru. you can see that in the first pic. I will try to find a picture of it all...

    oh yeah , it looks really bad, lol. I will put the pink 2 inch slab stuff back in. i will use 3/4 ply though. one little piece of that foam weighs 5 pounds, lol

    I agree with you on the wiring . Mine is a mess ! I dont know how anyone could do any problem solving in an emergency with all the wires looking like a spider web, labels people labels, lol. I am doing an Islander as well and I am a fan of that oil based porch paint. That old battleship grey...

    Some shots of plate, there was other angles bolted thru the stern but i removed bolts to take off bracket, you can see the angle at the bottom also. then the whole plate was bolted to the stringer.

    That exactly how I did mine. I bolted the triangle plates to the stringers.

    The rack for down riggers and the rod holders had a sticker on it that said nor tech. never heard of them but it is strong and probably stainless.
