    1979 Evinrude 85hp 85999R Plan on replacing the water pump and thermostats just as a prevenative maintenance. Is this something fairly easy or is it best to take it in and have a shop do? I know it hasn't been replaced in at least 3 years.

    16ft bass boat 85HP Evinrude Has a 19 pitch prop on it. It only runs wot at 4500 rpms and 43 mph. PLanes fast no problem there Motor runs great 140 compression all cylinders great spark runs real smooth. Will going to a 17 pitch help rpm's and speed?

    no start when hot

    Doeas anyone know if a 1979 evinrude 85hp haver a fuel filter? IF so where is it? I dont see one on mine. Also the bulb in the fuel line. DOes it effect fuel flow at all if bad or is it just used to pump the fuel if you need to?
