    1993 Johnson 115hp.

The shift rod connection is probably different due to the intake manifold. The 1984 has a narrow bell crank I believe and the 1993 is thicker. The manifold changes would result in switching out some of the ignition components. I might be wrong, but I ran into a similar situation years ago...

    Wiseco Pistons

I have seen too many Wiseco pistons still in very good to excellent condition but have loose and rocking wrist pins. What is up with this? Just took apart a Johnson 115 and three of the .044 pistons have no scuffing or signs of detonation and holding the piston I can rock the rod up and down...

    Attwood Fuel Tank Cap

Does Attwood make a manual venting fuel cap for their 6 gallon tank? The EPA cap that comes with them new does not properly vent the tank. Any suggestions on venting that EPA cap if they don't make a compatible manual venting cap?

1987 Johnson 40 hp tilt only parts

Got a 1987 two cylinder 40 hp Johnson that has the tilt only assembly on the side, no trim. Looking for the two shoulder bolts that will attach the unit to the brackets on the engine. Can't find this set up in the parts manual to get the part #'s, so if anyone could help me find the bolts or...

    Carb high speed orifice #'s

If the ports are smaller, than why the larger orifice? The 115 must have larger ports but a smaller orifice? If a 90 orifice is installed in the 115 carbs, than the output of the 115 should be greater. 90 has a hole size of 63 and the 115 is a 60. Just trying to figure out what would happen...

    Carb high speed orifice #'s

Different part numbers for all three Part #'s so I'd have to say no. Increasing the hi speed orifice from a lower # to a slightly higher # will it produce more on the top end? Just throwing out some ideas to get a little more punch.

    Carb high speed orifice #'s

Was looking up carb parts for my 1981 115 Johnson and noticed that the same year 90 hp has a larger high speed orifice number than the 115. Wouldn't the larger hp have a larger orifice number? The 115 is a size 60C and the 90 hp has a 65C while the 140 hp has a 67C. Isn't the higher the...

Thermostats or restrictors for 1981 115 hp Johnson

Got a 1981 115 Johnson with lots of hours on it. Pulled it apart and re-ringed it with new rings and a good set of used std. pistons. I honed the cylinders to remove the glaze and minor scratches, there was no deep scoring. My question is this, do I use new 143 thermostats or gut the old ones...

1978 85hp not getting full power

A binding spark advance arm will not act like dropping a cylinder, it will affect you throttling up into full throttle. Pull the flywheel, clean and lightly lubricate the timer base and delrin ring. If by chance that does not help (which I don't think it will) pull the carbs one more time, and...

Mercury old style tnt cylinder disassembly 1977

Trying to remove the bolt on the inner ram plate inside the sleeve of the cylinder so I can slide off the end cap to replace the rod seal. It is very tight and am wondering if it is a left hand thread. Anyone got some info on this? Would appreciate some help from you vintage outboard guys out...

Suzuki Oil Injection Pumping too much

My son has a 1986 Suzuki DT/150 that is getting too much oil on the high and low end. Being a mechanical oil pump, can it be disassembled and reassembled in such a way that it seems to always be wide open for oil distribution? He just got the engine and it keeps fouling new plugs within twenty...
