    5.7 Mercruiser flushing options

Just got done replacing the exhaust manifolds, elbows and raw water pump. I currently have the Mercury flush kit that t’s into the main water pump hose. So I ran the engine and noticed that the starboard side manifold runs cool, 100* the port runs around 135-140*. By the way I have a closed...

What part is leaking water on Mercruiser 350 Mag MPI 5.7 L

I bought aftermarket plugs from Amazon. They work in a pinch but I don’t care for the way they fit. Hardin marine make a SS that’s identical to the OEM. They work perfect. Or buy the OEM, Mercury does sell them separate.

    Riser gasket question

4c.  Closed Cooled engines with the raw water from the heat exchanger going to the 90-degree fitting on bottom of the exhaust manifold: Use P/N 27-863726 Gasket – 4 Slot between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust elbow. Just found this from a Mercury service bulletin 99-10. So I guess my...

    Riser gasket question

I have a 2000 Mercruiser 5.7 EFI TBI B3. I just noticed saltwater buildup on one of my risers, they are Barr but don't know the age. I also noticed that to the touch the leaking riser is hotter. Anyways, I will be replacing both sides. When I go to Boats.net for the riser gasket part number, it...

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

Are you talking about the one in the distributor?

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

I am going to buy the fitting and check FP. Now if FP is fine, can it be something else other than VL? And I take it that if it VL there isn’t much I can do other than have the return fuel go to the tank vs the fuel filter. I’ve read that a lot of people hate the Cool Fuel system and have gotten...

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

So I installed a new fuel pump, aftermarket and a new OEM fuel pressure regulator. Cooler was fine. cleaned it out. Went out this weekend. Boat runs perfect. Get to where I am going shut it down and if I try to crank it 20-30 minutes later, it will turn on but the rpms will fluctuate and...

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

2000 5.7 TBI L635236. It did leak at the clamp very little and I was able to crimp the hose. It did bulge some. Any aftermarket you recommend or all are same. What about for the pressure regulator, also the same as the pump. Thanks for the help. New to I/O, always had O/B.

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

So the pump should have blown up that hose? Next question. Is a aftermarket pump any good. Mercury only sells a whole kit and it $860. I found a OEM cooler for $185 and all the OEM o-rings but the pump can't be found separate, only aftermarket. Also going to replace the pressure regulator while...

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

So this morning I ran the pump with the fuel disconnected from the TBI.

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

The line going to the TBI feels like the line is aerated. Kinda feels like an electric toothbrush or beard trimmer type of vibration. And if I recall the pumps sounds weirder when priming up than before. But, yes the boat ran perfect last time. Only thing that happened last time was that after...

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

So, the engine runs fine. Gets full rpms(4700), idles fine, starts right up, no issues what so ever. Today I just heard a weird whining noise that seems to come from the fuel pump and like I said the fuel line to the TBI/EFI has a small vibration. I have been reading and I have to check the...

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

Filter is brand new. No water in the old filter either. I just double checked and it's making a humming noise and the line going to the TBI feels like one of those electric toothbrushes.

5.7 TBI possible fuel pump issue

So, I was getting my boat ready for tomorrow and I go to crank it up. Its cranks just fine, no issues. But I started hearing a whine type noise coming from the fuel pump area. I placed my hands on the lines and I can feel the line has a small vibration, intone with the noise. I had a weird issue...

Yandina combiner and a battery charger

NOCO Genius got back to me and answered my question. They said a single bank is the only thing that will work. Using a 2 bank will cause an over voltage error on the charger. Thanks

Yandina combiner and a battery charger

My onboard 2 bank battery charger took a dump yesterday. I recently installed a Yandina combiner 100. I want to replace the charger and was wondering, Since I have the combiner should I just get a single bank charger or still get a 2 bank? I was thinking if having the combiner some how messed up...

    Intake Manifold Gaskets

I did mine last month and also used the FelPro set. Other gaskets have a tendency to leak. And 11lbs was the torque I used. So far all is well after 10hrs.

I assume I need an engine alignment, vibration when drive is engaged

I am new to I/O on boats but not to engines. Any vibration is bad, period. I would have it repaired before you use the boat. Vibrations could lead to other more expensive issues.

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

Didn’t know there was 2 of the round ones on the newer B3. I figured they were working, I just didn’t think they would change on day 1. I have replaced the anodes on my outboards before and never saw a change from day one. Prop nut is on its way. I am going to skip the Mercathode system. It...
