    An OMC in disguise?

I was looking at a boat that has a 1990 Johsnon Model # RJ90PLSSE outboard. I noted that, at this time, Johnson was a part of OMC corp. Is this engine going to have the same parts availability isses that some OMC stern drives have? Is it a good engine? Does anyone know what the minimum...

    A proper compression check

I'm looking for a boat and while I've done a few compression checks on autos, I'm wondering if there's anything special to remember when doing it stern on drives and outboards? Lowest cylinder shouldn't test lower than 80% of highest, right? Thank you.

    Fiberglass or aluminum

I'm thinking about a classic cuddy cabin- Around the 20 foot range. I'd use it in freshwater excluisvely. It would be trailered to the water as opposed to a wet storage situation. I'm a fairly competant mechanic and I can use a riveter or patch fiberglass. Still, I like to start with a boat...

Hi, great forum. I've got an '86 Force 50. Latley, I've noticed a fuel leak. Seems to collect at bolt on the bottom of the carb and drips off. It seems that this occurs when the engine is tilted up for trailoring. Also (and possibly related), I've noticed a the engine cut out at idle for a...
