    In line fuel filter with a fuel water separator

    I have a 1988 88hp Johnson and would like any input on the benefits of using an in-line fuel filter with a fuel water separator. My gut tells me this is overkill and that the addtion of one more fuel filter would make the fuel pump work that much harder. Any feedback.

    With the ethanol in today's gas, does it make sense to install a fuel water seperator on smaller outboards that use portatble tanks. I have an inline filter for debri but nothing that prevents water from getting in the fuel.
