I just bought a '98 Tracker pro team 185 with a 90hp Merc (90ELPTO). I am only getting about 4700 rpms at WOT trimmed all the way out. power loss on '78 85hp crossflow

water comming over transom when I come off plane

I have 15.5 tri-hull bass boat with a '78 Johnson 85hp 19P SS prop. When I come off plane, the wake catches up to the boat and a significant amount of water splashes up over the transom all the way onto my rear deck. I have just been giving it a little push after I come off just to "out run" the...

    Eska 2hp info needed

Could some one give some info on this motor? The model number is 14205A and the serial number is 38-361654. The model plate says it runs on 25:1 mix. I guess I would like to know what year it was made, if it's water cooled (which it appears to be but I'm no expert), if it uses regular hi-visc...

? about water freezing in gearcase

I live in the south and fish all year round so I don't winterize. I noticed that it is suposed to get below freezing in my area tonight so I went to do a gear lube inspection. My lube is a little cloudy but still clear enough to be what I'd consider not milky. My question is at what point do you...

    broken Tilt Tube bushing

my tilt tube bushing broke when I was reassembling my TnT/stern brckets. I didn't notice it until I had remounted the motor (sealant cured etc). I am in the process of assembling a manual tilt system on my old '79 100hp ( put it's power trim on my "new" '78 85hp manual tilt). Just from looking at the pictures and diagrams in the manual I have been able to get most of it done but the old proverbial "one part left over" has proven true...

    I just got a '78 85hp cross flow. '78 and 79' 85hp comparrison

I just bought a 1978 85hp to replace my '79 100hp and was thinking about putting the 100hp carbs on the '78 85hp. I did notice though that it looks like the '78 85hp uses a 45c high speed jet where as the '79 85hp uses a 48c....the '79100 uses a 50c. My question is why is there a 3c difference...

    acetone to speed drying

You may have read in another thread that I am dealing with a thruhull fitting (livewell drain) that was letting water into the transom. I luckily caught it early enough to where there is no rot (except for a very small amount on the surface inner skin). The core wood is solid, hard and splintery...

sealing bolt holes and thruhull holes

Is it common practice or a good idea to seal outboard mounting bolt holes and thru-hull fittings with something like resin or Gluvit before installing and siliconing? seems like it would be a good idea but this newbie knows it's better to ask first.
