Oil in gas/water in cylinders 94 Volvo Penta 4.3

I think it's worth trying to clean up those manifolds. Once you get whatever sealant was used off of them and sand them flat, you will be able to tell more. And I don't see any concerning rust in the engine. The rust around the top edge of the intake ports is just where the intake manifold...

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI fuel problems

the oil pressure switch is likely on the port side below the exhaust manifold at the rear of the block. Just above where the oil filter is if it doesn't have a remote oil filter. Or possibly on top rear of block just behind intake manifold. port side

89 4.3 OMC cobra stalling at WOT

89 definitely had points. I had one until a few months ago

Oil in gas/water in cylinders 94 Volvo Penta 4.3

A leaking intake manifold gasket could allow water into the engine and possibly an intake port, causing hydrolock. I would get a new impeller, thermostat and intake gasket and see what happens.

And test the ignition coil with an ohm meter

    Dies throttling down

Dieseling can be fuel, ignition, or carbon buildup. Start with ignition system. If you don't know how old the components are, replace them. Pull and inspect spark plugs. If they are carboned up, clean or replace them. Inspect the wires for damage or cracks, if they are damaged, replace them...

    OMC 3.0L missfire/ fuel starvation!?

I doubt it. That would likely be one cylinder and would be pretty constant I suspect

    OMC 3.0L missfire/ fuel starvation!?

Seafoam will help clean deposits out of the carb and intake tract. Other fuel treatments can be used, though. Should be points ignition. I'll wager they haven't been cleaned or replaced. Do that and check timing

Motor has power, won’t turn over

This is the first thing to test. Put a socket on the crank pulley and turn it clockwise. If it won't go or it's really tight, your engine might be locked up and be toast. Check the oil, make sure you didn't run it dry. If it turns, you will develop compression. Pull the spark plugs and make sure...

Oil in gas/water in cylinders 94 Volvo Penta 4.3

You say the oil was gray? Was it still transparent or was it milky looking (not white obviously? Milky oil is a sign of water intrustion. Since you now have a new impeller and thermostat run it on muffs in the driveway for a while and see if you get water in your oil. Assuming your engine is...

    Dies throttling down

Is it dieseling? Does it act like this If you can, get the serial number off the engine. If not, at least let us know what you have. Carb or EFI. If EFI throttle body or MPI?

89 4.3 OMC cobra stalling at WOT

Has it run hot at all. Sounds like poor water flow. Probably needs an impeller maybe a new thermostat. Running hot can cause ignition issues too. Good idea to put in new points and condenser and check/clean distributor cap. Sounds like you have your fuel issue sorted

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

Based on your gear ratio and prop you have a potential top speed of 50mph at about 4600rpm. If you only got 23mph with the 140hp 3.0 I would expect 35-40 assuming you are making about 300hp now. I think you are still overpropped

New rebuilt OMC 3.0l Overcooling no matter what!

Does the housing appear to have corrosion that has made the bypass hole excessively large? this would allow extra flow when not needed

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

Yeah I know he didn't mention rpms at WOT on the 3L engine so I asked what it was. The numbers you are quoting are based on the 2600rpms he says he was getting on the new 5.7L engine but I mistakenly assumed the gear ratio of the outdrive was the same as the 3L. Then I posted new slip and mph...

V/P: Location of ID plate on transom shield?

The engine serial should have been on the valve cover. On my 97 SX the ID tag is on the port side up the upper gear housing, not on the transom plate

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

I used the gear ratio of the original 3.0 drive Recalculating at 1.47 ratio at 2600rpm gives 19p at 17mph 47% slip 19p at 10% slip 29mph 15p at 17mph 32% slip 15p at 10% slip 23mph If these numbers are accurate the 15p prop is still too much prop for the amount of horsepower delivered and size...
