    coil replacement procedure

    i received my 2 coils and am ready to install them on my 1971 evinrude 50 selectric In the kit, they included the coil, a boot, a small spring, a grommet and a heat tube. The heat tube is for the high tension lead; correct? or is it for the 2 small leads? The spring and grommet go where?

    well, i guess it had to happen, it's dieing. (1971 evinrude 50 selectric) i was booting along, at 49km/30mph and *whump* the boat slowed to a crawl. i brought it down to idle speed, popped it in neutral and went to look for weeds, cause it felt like i just plowed into a wad of vegetation...

    am i supposed to disconnect the battery when im done for the day? even though the ignition key is OFF, there's power constantly being used somewhere. i come back to find my battery at 4v is this normal?

    '71 50hp evinrude selectric - no charge

    big suprise out on the lake today, my 2 brandnew batteries totally depleted. got a jump start and realized that the motor isnt charging up the batteries. if i disconnected the ground to swap batteries the motor went into forward gear, it wouldnt sty in neutral. any ideas?

    carb swap: carbs from '79 onto a '71 motor

    i have a '71 evinrude 50hp, and also have a '79 johnson 50hp that i use for parts. can I/should I swap the '79's carbs onto my '71? will i get better performance, efficiency or anything? many of the carb's parts use the same numbers, and my '79's carbs are brand new.
