    Yea the pinion gear nut is off and the pinion will not come off due to the foward gear

    Can not get drive shaft out of lower unit any ideas the 1150 foot the foward gear bearing puked on me and was in process of swapping gears from a 79 merc 115 that has a cracked foot

    Took it took mechanic up the street he said my cable came loose in the remote enough to where I worked at times and didn’t other times had them to swap out cables and it works great now they told me I had all hooked up properly but I never opened the remote don’t u see stand it fully or wanted...

    1978 115hp mercury 20.75 shaft length from top of water pump serial is 5595430 looking for new lower unit cracked mine other day just wondering what years are interchangeable my shift shaft has a spline type

    Done installed took 2 peps cause I don’t have a retainer on the upper shaft now have to do a little adjustment to shift cable due to 78 lu and a 1980 upper not much ask tho but any way thanks guys this was a big help and decently will NOT forget how to do it

    One last thing is there suppose to be some ring or something around the coupler to hold it in place cause it’s hard to line up the coupler in upper shaft with the lower while holding lu in olace

    That’s what I was thinking u can hear doors shutting but live wells still leaked unless flaps are bad. Cables go into back up under the gas tank which is I believe is a 20 I’ve put 16 in it one time and now I only put 8 at a time now and I’ve emailed ranger to get info and they are no help...

    Yea was together before shifted no problems did the ccw turning of the shift shaft went 180dg and stopped turned with vise til it clicked turn crank shaft so prop turn cw for foward so going to install tonight

    Rev is rev and neu is neu and no foward have to push far foward before it would engage foward and the rev are really high
