    Shift cable question

Thanks! I think I now understand. So the bellow is attached, sealed and clamped at the transom and also sealed and clamped to the bell housing so the cable is completely dry under operation. The bellows isnt just clamped to the lip on the transom and then clamped directly to the cable which...

    Shift cable question

I have a stingray 536 and am changing the shift cable bellows. The others are in excellent condition so Im not touching them right now. I noticed that there is nothing on the inside holding that cable in place. In other words it seems to me that the cable is able to move in and out of the...

    pulls right at wot

I am going to have to do some testing on the water with the trim adjustments to see what happens. I did reset the steering wheel on the hub...much better! I also adjusted the anode fin to the extent it is adjustable. This is my first boat and all I really have to compare to is automotive...

    pulls right at wot

I will put some more adjustment on the fin today and see if I can tune it in some more. My shorts are definitely not in a bunch, just wondering if that was a contributing factor. The steering wheel is clocked 90 degrees off and it bothers me because the thumb tabs are now at 12 and 6.

    pulls right at wot

1991 stingray 536 zp (no power steering) is pulling pretty hard to the right at WOT. low speeds it seems fine. I did try to adjust by turning the anode fins leading edge to the right but no noticeable difference. The steering wheel is also clocked wrong and maybe thats the problem? Info on the...

    engine cover gas shock mount

91 stingray One of the 2 mounting brackets for the gas shocks that hold the engine compartment hatch open has rusted through and I have absolutely no idea where to start looking for one. Stingray parts for my boat are like unicorns. Is there an automotive application that anybody knows of that...

    91 Stingray GPZ prop

First boat, I got this boat late summer and did a lot or work to the motor (3.0) hull and interior. I only had it out twice testing (first run found a water leak had rusted the timing cover) second run was just a few minutes on the water to check my rebuild on the outdrive (all is good). My...

    bow cover

That’s what I figured but just wanted to verify that. Will they have to take measurements from the boat or do they use a pattern reference system? Dumb question but if I can avoid hauling it somewhere that would be ideal.

    bow cover

I have a 1991 stingray 536 and I am looking for a cover for the open bow area only. I can't find any information on this at all. Maybe this isn't even available (?) Thanks!!

    91 stingray project

I’m sure I will end up out on my back and knees at some point next spring doing that. The bottom cleaned really well with oxalic acid but there are some scrub marks from the trailer that stand out. It will bother me till it’s done 😆

    91 stingray project

You ain’t kidding. I wet sanded one side by hand and did the rubbing compound with an orbital. A friend is gonna lend me his random orbital for the other side and if I see a big difference I’m gonna redo what I’ve already done. It’s very satisfying work and this old boat will look great when...

    91 stingray project

I brought the finish out nicely with the meguires deep cut rubbing compound and it looks like it’s ready for wax already. Gonna do the polish next then the carnuba wax. What a difference!

    91 stingray project

Engine and drive are complete and now working on the exterior. Washed it with strong detergent, then oxalic acid sprayed on and worked with a soft brush, wet sand then rubbing compound with an orbital. It is now ready for a few coats of wax. I will probably tape and drape when I do too and...

    3.0 point gap

I am now looking for a dwell meter. I haven't had my hands on one of those in a long time.

    3.0 point gap

I think its time to buy a hard copy manual for the boat. The PDF is great but not user friendly...at least when Im the user.

    3.0 point gap

I know somebody did give me the point gap for this 3.0 mercruiser but I can't find that thread at all. I have manual #13 on this but it doesn't address point gap, only electronic ignition (wrong manual?) Engine is OD4454CO Thanks!

    oil leak on 3.0

The only issue I have now is the steering wheel. The wheel is way off and I’m thinking maybe I can take the steering wheel off and change the position or is it possibly more complex than that?
