    Replacing U-joints Alpha one gen 1

    if changing the u joints closest to the housing, most times, yes, you have to cut the retainer, just enough to clear the caps, a simple angle sut will be enough to get the job done, if not, the chances are you will end up breaking one of the tabs off when pressing the caps out.

    Oil in bellows questions…

    the oil cant get into the cavity from the poppet valve . there is a ribber ring/gasket that sits against the bellows retainer ring and seals the unit stopping water from getting past.

    diesel fuel, a gallon or 2 of diesel, it will break down the jell and you can turn the engine over a bit to circulate the oil/flush throughout drain, and do it again, 1 more time. then fresh oil

    if you have a stud left from the screw, get some map gas, heat the hell out of the stud and put a pair if vise grips on it, if hot enough it will come out.

    are you sure its soot and not belt shredding? is it all over the alternator as well? you should have zero exhaust fumes in the engine bay

    i agree 100% if i had not witnessed this issue myself. just saying he replaced or attacked all other systems. sending 12V constant to the coild couldnt hurt and will rule that out.

    how much pressure do those HP pumps put total? sounds like they use the same pump for multiple systems.

    im still no closer to solving this issue, now i am into 4th of july weekend and the boat is useless,. i cant believe this problem has not come up before. and as for the code 61 not showing up in the charts, well thats just par for the course it seems.

    as far as i know, the boat has not overheated , yes the boat came from florida, salt water and was a mess when it came. it had new manifolds/ cats done and im several other parts replaced. what is dts?
