    1968 9.5 Johnson prop size

What size is the original prop on this motor? Tried search with no luck and I cant find anything stamped on it. The one that's on there is 8" diameter but I don't know the pitch.

Do i have it priced to high?

I know that value of a boat is very subjective and it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. But I thought I would ask anyway. It's a 12' Mirrocraft from the late 70's early 80's. It has a 5hp Scott Atwater that runs well. I was asking $300 for the boat and $100 for the motor. I guess the...

Trolling plate on a 9.5 Johnson

Anyone have any thoughts on how well these work? The 9.5 I just got had one on it (spring up type). It's on a 12" tinny. I don't know why the previous owner would have put it on as I can idle to motor low enough to troll. Do they help planing at all?

Anyone ever seen a trailer like this?

This is truly a Clampett trailer, more like a boat dolly. But it seems to work. I pulled the boat to the lake with no issues. It looks like a harbor freight ot northern tool job that someone converted. I was mainly questioning the 1 leaf spring. I guess it does it's job for absorbing shock, and...

Do you trailer your small boat with the motor on?

Just curious if is the wise thing to do on a riveted 12ft boat. I will haul with the motor on if I am going to the river which as only a 1/2 mile from my house, but if I go any farther I put the motor in the truck.

9.5 Johnson Intake and Exhuast question

I'm new to this motor so I am still kinda ingorant on some of the intracacies. I have read alot of posts that mention exhaust leaks. I don't think mine has a leak because it runs well with the cowl on. It will push my 12ft tinny 21 mph. My question is: does the design of this motor allow it draw...

    Which boat would you keep

I bought the silver boat in the pictures so I could get the motor and trailer. Now I'm at a dilema as to which boat to keep. The tan boat is a mirrocraft. Really a well made boat and very strong but it is shallower and narrower than the other. The silver boat is essentially flat bottom so it is...

    9.5 hp carb help needed

1966 9.5 johnson. Starts and idles great. When I go to high speed fuel comes out of the high speed orifice and it starts to miss. I beleive that it is starving for air when the orifice get fuel in it and that it is a bad float, or stuck float needle. If I plug the hole with my finger it dies...

    Need Scott-Atwater help

I have 2 Scott-Atwater outboards. I was told by my father that one was a 10hp and the other was a 5hp. I beleive that the tiller handles have been swapped so the ID plate really does me no good. They are both 1954 or 55. If the powerhead, and carb serial numbers are the same on both motors...

    Merc 1000 Prop question

I cant find a part# cross for my prop 4832750-19. I am assuming that this is a 19 pitch but don't know the diameter. If so why is there a 17 stamped on the side of the prop. I have 2 and both are the same. Next question this motor is on a 17' glastron trihull and I am currently getting 4500 rpm...

    Tach question

As I understand it there are two types of tach hookups, either alternator driven (hooked to rectifier) or ignition driven (hooked to switchbox). Mine is hooked to switchbox on 68 Merc 1000. If I buy a new tach with the adjustable pole settings do I just unhook the wire from the gray terminal at...

    Timing Merc 1000

I know that there are a thousand posts and info on timing, but I can't find one that that deals with my self inflicted problem. I have a 1968 (2320822) Merc 1000 i6. I ws new to outboards when I got the thing from my father and I began to replace all the coroded wiring. In the process I removed...
