    Quicksilver tach not working w/ 84 merc 90hp

    My quicksilver tach isn't working and I'm wondering if I can run a wire directly from the tach to my 1984 mercury 90hp 6cyl? The way it is setup now, the tach signal wire leads into my quicksilver controls, and from there they go back to the motor. At one point someone did some monkeying around...

    90hp 6cyl how many t-stats/poppet valves?

    On my 84 90hp cyl merc would I have one t-stat and one poppet valve? I've seen some motors have two t-stats so I just want to be sure before ordering parts.

    84 Mercury 90hp I-6 impeller replacement help.

    Edit: Found some instructions that answered my questions on the impellor. Also, I was going to replace the oil in the lower unit while I'm at it, what kind of oil should I run in there?
