    I have a new boat with very fine cracks where the swim platform curves into the transom.The dealer will fix them but they are barely visable and I'm afraid I'll have a bigger mess cosmetically.Are there any long term consequences to not having them fixed? They are well above the water line.

    Remote oil filter

    I have a 2005 Mercruiser 4.3L with a difficult to reach oil filter. Has anyone installed a remote unit. At almost $300 the OEM kit seems a little high compared to automotive kits. Also the pictures I've seen mount the filter upside down.

    Synthetic oil

    Anyone have experience using synthetic oil. I have a new Tahoe with 4.3 190 and am ready for the first oil change. I use Mobil 1 in everything from lawn mowers to SUV and have had no problems but Mercury says do not use in the owners manual.
