    Oil Change '00 4.3GL-Pic

I pumped all of the oil out, but I just don't think I got it all. This is the first oil change since the engine rebuild last summer. Just want to make sure I am doing this correctly. Idled engine for about 10 minutes to think the oil first. Any suggestions or is this correct? Thanks.

    Setting Timing '99 4.3GL-PWTR

I made a shunt out of a plug I had from an old project, but I am doing something wrong. Steps that I took: 1. I hooked the shunt up to the distributor (not battery) while engine was off; 2. Connected timing light with clamp on no.1 plug wire (P-side front cylinder); 3. I started the engine; 4...

Holley Carb Fitting Behind Elec Choke?

Not sure what is supposed to go on the brass fitting just to the left of the choke in the image. This port is sucking a bit of air when I place my finger over the orifice. I don't notice any change in idle smoothness. Runs great from ilde to WOT. Thanks for any help.

    4.3GL Fuel Pump Problem

Having some problems with a fuel pump (bench tested good) that I was hoping I could run by some of you. The boat is a 2000 Larson and the PO chopped the fuel pump wires and rigged up something to make it work. I would prefer to correct this. I have studied the 4.3GL-A wiring schematics, which...

Help Identifying Engine Wiring Harness Components

I have a 4.3GL from a 2000 Larson. Thanks for any help. Trying to identify a few circuits on the engine harness: 1. What do these two 50 amp breakers protect. Both are firm to the touch. The 6 amp (not shown) is soft and moves up and down when pressed: 2. Two wires cut (one grey and one...

    Valve Lash Procedure

Engine was a Marine Jasper rebuild. Everything is exactly as disassembled. Did have to swap block-I wasn't the one who winterized it. It is a roller cam/lifter setup. Reminds me of the mid '80s setups in the Camaro and Firebird. Assembly of the rockers are: rockers, domed washers then...

    Valve Lash Procedure

I looked at the manual and it does not depict what I am working with. It reports exactly what you are saying. Heads have the studs sticking out like pre-Vortec days.Image shows the rockers I am dealing with.

    Identifying Engine

I am confused. The "4.3GLPWTR" on the plastic piece over the fuel pump is coming up for 1998-1999 and my boat is a 2000. Another thing, when I look up parts for the same engine it shows a throttle body and the boat actually has a carburetor (Holley). The engine that I just pulled is a Jasper...

    4.3 VP Engine Replacement

I have a 2000 Larson that I bought as a project. Boat has been sitting for some time and the engine short block (maybe long) has to be replaced. It now has a Jasper 14099090M block that is supposed to be for the years '96-'98. Which block can I use to replace this block? Will a 14099090 work or...

    Pulling 4.3GL VP Sx-M

Thanks again...got it off...no skeg, but a nice cozy blanket waiting for it.. Maybe I will convert my old o/b stand to a skeg. Here are the exact steps: 1. Remove 3 screws holding plastic cover: Step 2: Remove the pin, nut and the brass fitting that is threaded onto the shift cable. The...

    Pulling 4.3GL VP Sx-M

I see now. When the drive spline comes out the flywheel housing will lift straight up and off the main bolts/buts holding the engine in place-a bit different than a car. The 4 nuts are the two large ones at the front motor mounts and the two shown below with the large washers at the back of the...

Dragged home a "new to me" boat.

Boat doesn't look bad at all. I added green arrows to suggest where you might look to get that panel out. Look for screws like the one my yellow arrow is pointing to. You might have to run your finger along the brown carpet to feel since they might be covered by the carpet.

    2000 Larson 186 LXi Project

Feel along the edge of the carpet where I made the arrow, Should be around 8-10 holding 1.5" screws holding it to the floor. Our seat is a little different. Is this your 2002? Also that petition with the fire retardant insulation has 90 degree aluminum brackets on each side.

    Pulling 4.3GL VP Sx-M

I am pulling a 4.3GL VP sx-m setup from a 2000 Larson. I pulled the harness, five bolts (one missing) in the back that couples the engine block to the _____(?)_____, larges nuts from the motor mounts, water lines, carburetor linkage, batter cables, starter wires. Mainly I am concerned there is...
