US Marine gauges?

Stopped by my local marina(one of the eleventy billion in the area), and they had a display of gauges. A bunch of them were labelled US Marine on them(I think that's what it was), and I haven't heard of them before.

They looked pretty snazzy, and not too expensive(3 in one gauges at...

    Who's got a hot tub?

So a guy down the street from me moved, and doesn't want his hot tub. Offered it to me for free.

Never owned one, so what all is involved in keeping them going good?

Hole in port side of boat!

Ok, so there is a hole in the port side of the boat(friends), towards the bow. Slightly above the waterline I believe. Haven't seen this before on a boat, and wondering what it is. About 3/4" diameter, with a screen over it. Not some random hole, apparently meant to be there. Just have no...

    Poulan chainsaw problem

    Ok, here's the skinny...

My aunt/uncle had the chainsaw that was my grandparents. The thing sat around for about 2 years(maybe more), with gas in it. I need to use the thing, so I borrow it from them.

Obviously, it doesn't want to start right away. I pull the starter...

    Gauge problem

Friend's boat(using my boat lift while I fix mine, so I get to use the boat), 85 Century. Has what I believe to be original gauges, made by Faria. The fuel gauge doesn't work, so I tried to put my Teleflex gauge in today. My gauge worked fine last expedition of my boat.

The gauge...

    Church Gossip

Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose in to other people's business. Several members did not approve of her extra curricular activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence.

She made a mistake, however, when...

    Dock jumping

Think I'm gonna get a new bike...

Currently, I'm on my first bike, that I've been riding for about 2 years now. $100 bike, that just needed some TLC to get her runnin. Does ok, but she's old. '81 XJ750. Gets around 40mpg normally.

Test rode the new Yamaha FZ6 today. Well, after I rode a Ninja 500. Ninja was a...

    Wakeboard size?

What are the dimensions of a standard wakeboard? I'm rebuilding the floor of my boat, and I'd like to make accomidations to fit a wakeboard in the floor if I can, but I don't know the standard dimensions of one.

And how does one size up a wakeboard for a person? I'll be buying my...

    Confused on steering systems...

I'm a little bit confused on the Teleflex steering systems right now. And since I'm rebuilding the floor of my boat, I figure it's a good time to replace the 18 y/o steering system.

I emailed Teleflex, but they weren't much help...
And their website isn't all that helpful...

    Capacity plate required?

The capacity/weight/model plate on my boat, is attached to the fiberglass in a spot that I want to cut the fiberglass out of. So, I'm wondering if this plate is required to be on/in the boat, when it is a personal use boat.

And what about if I decide to sell the boat later?

Converting old style boat lift to bunk style?

I have an old boat lift that I got for cheap for my boat. It only has the 2 cross braces(with a wood plank on top), and 2 flaps on the back to form a V.

The newer style lifts all come with bunks, and this seems like it would be easier to get the boat lined up properly on the lift...

    Faria vs Teleflex gauges

Is there much of a difference that anyone has experienced between the two gauge companies? I've been looking to get a new set, and found these 2 to be the major players.

I did notice that I haven't found really any specs on the Faria stuff on their website(like what the depth sounder...

Cutting out bow section and replacing with custom?

While redoing this floor, I've though about cutting out the bow section, and remaking it out of wood a bit nicer than it came. Any ideas on the best place to cut this? Or has anyone had any experience doing this?

I don't want to take the deck off the boat really. And the front...

    Gas tank placement/securing

The current gas tank, while unsecured and just sitting there apparently, is on the side opposite the helm. I've thought about moving it to the floor(not sure if it would fit or not yet), while I redo the floor in the boat.

If I'm at the helm, while the boat is in the water, it leans...

    Anybody use a come-a-long?

I've gotten my truck stuck on a boat ramp 2 times so far, because of the one-wheel-peel on a slick ramp.

I was wondering if anyone ever invested in a come-a-long(hand puller) to get themselves unstuck on a boat ramp? Are they large enough to handle a truck and a trailer/boat?

    Friend's boat, steering problem

My friend has a pontoon boat, with (I believe) a 40hp Johnson on the back. When he got it last year, the steering was fine. But he tells me it is very stiff now, and if you go to the back of the boat(it's on a trailer right now), you can't turn the outboard by hand.

I understand my...

    More $$$ in gauges = better/more accurate?

Ok, so are the higher priced gauges better and more accurate? Or are you just paying for looks?

I'm comparing my basic Teleflex gauges, to the newer, higher priced gauges out right now. And I'd just like to know if it's all cosmetic, or if there is a real benefit to the higher...
