Merc 115hp in line 6 ID?

Please help me ID this engine. Time and water have obliterated the print on the data plate. I also need some help with ID'ing the trim pump motor (and perhaps the entire trim pump/motor assembly) as the existing one is almost sure to be replaced. As you can see, the engine is a 115 and the...

Evinrude 40 HP, primer and hoses

They work better when the primer input hose is not squeezed beteen the starter and the bottom carb float bowl. Don't ask me how I know.

    Prop ID and recommendation(s)

I have a Classic Fifty four cylinder, two stroke merc, forty-five hp, 20' Pontoon boat. Engine turns 4300 rpm @ WOT. It currently has the prop of which I have attached an image. I take this writing to mean that the prop has 11" pitch -- correct? Looks to me like I need a bit less pitch and...

    Carburetor port ID?

This carburetor is from (I believe) an '84 Johnson 50 hp. The tiny hose connection is for the primer. What is the adjacent hose connection for? The bottom carb has an identical connection.

    WOT RPM change

I have an '88 Mercury Classic Fifty on a pontoon boat; because of intermittant issues with cylinders #1 and #2, I've ordered a new switchbox and expect it any day. Perhaps the switch box will cure this issue, but I'd sure like to have a bit of advice anyway: This engine typically runs...

'88 two stroke, 45 hp merc prop

In an ebay search for a prop for this enigne, what is the terminology to describe the hub; i.e., I see some that say fifteen tooth spline, others with different descriptions, so to be sure I get a prop that will mount on the shaft, what term(s) do I look for? Here's an example...

    VRO elimination issue

No thread highjacker, me, I decided to ask this question in a new thread. In a current thread <http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=242166> Joe Reeves offered a step by step plan for elimination of the VRO, which included this instruction: This really caught my eye because at some point...

Component ID '88 40 hp Evinrude

There's an electrical component that is fastened to the back of the fuel pump on this engine. It has three conductors heading into the engine wire harness. I don't have a service manual for this engine: it's not mine, I'm working for free, and the people who own the boat don't have that...

    Mercury Classic Fifty ID?

The small identification plate on my engine is ravaged by salt water such that the first two characters are very difficult to read; that said, it appears to say: OB121232. It also identifies this number as a serial number. Is there an additional model number somewhere? Is the year and model...

    45hp merc, 1989, missing on cylinder #2

The missing is intermittant; i.e., if I go out to the boat today, it may or may not run on #2 (assuming #2 is second from the top) and #2 may or may not continue to miss or to run, as its mood dictates. I have ordered a shop manual, but do not yet have it. Here are my observations: 1) very...

40 HP Evinrude twin runs like doo-doo

Mid eighties (guess) two stroke 40 hp Evinrude twin: Gorgeous blue spark at both plugs; 150# compression on both cylinders; Carbs clean as a whistle; Starts very weak, runs weak on one cylinder, occasionally hits very momentarily on the other. More than one set of new plugs tried w/o any...

Mercury '89 Classic Fifty tilt issue

I have a classic fifty that runs perfectly, only one issue: while the 'trim' always works fine in the 'down' direction, its operation in the 'up' direction is unpredictable. Sometimes it will come up and sometimes it won't. When it does answer the up button, it does so quite normally. There...
