Help me identify what engine I have in my new boat

Volvo Penta put 715CFM carbs on stock block 350's from 1987-1994. the AVS 2 along with the webber and the 1409 all are available as 650 CFM or 800CFM. since they have the secondary flap they only flow what the engine can draw.

correct, you can not make a 3.0 distributor fit a 3.7 short of a machine shop and custom make one. the 3.7 liter does not have an electronic distributor anywhere. the only thing that exists is the pertronix point replacment trigger, however the distributor still has the mechanical advance...

Some co-workers run in 1-2" with their custom flats boats. They are tunnel cats with a jack plate. Once on plane, you raise the motor all the way up and just skim the surface

It's also compounded because the gear should be almost twice as large for the loads we are seeing in order to use cheaper materials....... Because sales wants smaller....smaller....smaller....more power density

Yes, two shortcomings, one was improper material for the gear, and an issue with induction hardening of the worm

The distributor was never used in a car As the Mercruiser 3.7 was dreamed up at mercury by taking the pistons and head from a Ford 460 and making a custom block and crank with a custom cam. It also is completely different than the 3.0 Mercruiser DID have them custom made. The Mercruiser...

Not sure there is one. im currently using a thixotropic extreme pressure gearbox lubricant. the one I selected 3 years ago is still the best for the application based on testing.

failed heat treatment on the worm allowed the teeth to deform and wipe out the teeth on the wheel. Additionally, centrifugal cast C91700 was spec'd and the vendor used sand-cast C91700 which is about 60% the strength. so the worm wheel failed sooner than it should.

they do NOT exist. you can get a custom one made for the 3.7 liter by Daves Small body HEI, however they will not be marine compliant. they will also be extremely expensive. Pertronix makes a point conversion for the stock delco distributor. if you have to rebuild your distributor, there...
