    1968 Starcraft Bahama restoration project

Welcome aboard, not too many glass SC guys around this section so not a lot of advice will come your way. The general resto forum has a ton of knowledge about glass.

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

The PT application and no water run time does make it tough to read the plugs. You said that spraying the PT in the bottom carb didn't affect the idle and the 2 bottom plugs don't have the distinct light brown around the electrode. Something isn't right with the bottom 2 cylinders. Addressing...

adding access hatches to Islander (tracking down a leak)

Most times the keel seam is what leaks in these boats if there's no obvious damaged rivets. Finding a leaking rivet from the inside of boat through a hole in the deck would be the worst unless you knew it was right below the hole your making. Have you leak tested the boat by adding some water...

    1985 50HP 4-cylinder power loss

Lots going on here, could you pull the spark plugs, number them and take a pic? No idle change when spraying that PT could mean a couple things. Mainly thinking no fire due to a plug not firing which could mean the switch box dropped a cylinder. A spark test may be in order. Also after I do the...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I know the feeling about the Al work, it's one of these toughest metals there are to work with but makes for a great boat!

    1963 Starcraft Rebuild

Nice looking wood you found and the transom wood looks really solid with lots of layers.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Motor troubles on the older boats usually comes down to 2 things, fuel supply or ignition parts breakdown. Sounds like you lost a cylinder either because of fuel leaned out which is worse case scenario or the switch box dropped off a cylinder.

    1978 Holiday 18

Lookin real good out in the summer sun, super clean lines. Those old V4 Johnnys are good motors albeit a little thirsty for the expensive juice.

    1963 Starcraft Rebuild

Sounds like a solid plan. Before the deck make sure you leak test, replace rivets and seal up the seams. The SC FB group is full of some really bad advice with only a few guys there that actually know what their doing. I pretty much stopped giving advice there because the guys with the easy...

1974? Starcraft SS 18 Prop specs

It would be a 120 HP MC drive with a 1.98 gear ratio. I would recommend a 14 1/2" diameter x 19 pitch spline tooth count 20 - 24. Due to the age and wear on the motor trying to spin a 21p prop even in a light 18' Al boat can cause lugging issues not being able to reach max RPM at WOT. Props are...

    1978 Holiday 18

Well I guess there's more than one way to skin a boat 😆 I can't imagine the pain of trying to strip and then the painting process with the interior work nearly done. My hats off to you for getting it done without being committed to an asylum!

    My Starcraft

Just remember the ends of the transom that go under the end caps has to have a 15 degree angle cut at the top.

My First Boat, 1972 Starcraft Nova 16' Johnson 85HP

Welcome aboard, Yeah nothing that floats, rolls of flies are without cost but sweat equity makes for a much less expensive boat. Very cool boats indeed and worthy of some love. Takes some money yes but mostly dedication and drive to get one of these boats from trash to treasure.

    My first StarCraft

Welcome to the Starcraft club! You have one of the most popular and prolific aluminum boats ever, the 16' Super Sport. You may find the old twin cylinder 55 horse Johnny a bit under powered for that size boat but they are a nice little motor. I had one on a 16' Sea Nymph that took a bit or...

2000 Starcraft 1710 Floor removal to access gas gauge sender

Need some pics of what you're working on to give the best advice. I'd be leaning towards cutting a hole in the deck and adding either a hatch or a spin out deck plate over the sender. Removing the decking would require a serious amount of work that normally requires replacement of both the...
