Might want to try using a noid light tester at each of the wires to see if the injector circuit is working properly. I believe some auto parts stores will rent the noid lights at no cost such as Oreilles...
If the engine runs at all no matter how it runs then the fuel injectors are indeed firing and the ECM is controlling the Injector pulse width hopefully at the correct timeframes and with enough proper flow which is most likely going to be okay.
It could either be flooding to much fuel or not...

Some models has either a 50 or 90 amp fuse connected to the main starter post which protects the engine components.

This one just has more of the 454 Magnum appearance to me vs being the 7.4 Bravo design found in and around 1996... plus searching the number seen on the oil filter adaptor sort of helps support that visual by riser design.
