    Is the buddy heater safe?

Unless the fuel tank is located in the same enclosed space as your buddy.

    Is the buddy heater safe?

I think the real issue has been lost in the discussion. Sure, use a Buddy in a tent, in the Living room or even in the closet if you see a Hurricane approaching. Although the first thought would be about CO poisoning, but the new units are designed to be safe in that regard. But, do you...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Sometimes things are merely a labor of love. If I were to take my Lyman to an Antique and Classic boat show with a plastic tank, the judges would die laughing and I would lose points big time. I also like to restore antique marble top tables.

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

I'll take concrete or steel ramps any day. In my fresh water area the water level rarely changes. So, the only slime is where the ramp is constantly under water. Since I don't launch submarines my rear tires are ALWAYS on dry ground. The only boat that requires me to get my feet wet is my...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

If the gas stinks it's gotta be preeettttttyyyy old. The OEM tank that came with my 9.5 Rude is now 52 years old. I do remember replacing the fuel line once, but it has lasted all these years without issue. Of course, it's a 2-stroke so oil is always in there regardless. A few years ago the...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Here's a cut and paste of the fuel tank parts on page 76 of Seachoice's Catalog #31, just like I said. I don't know how it would be hard to find. Description Model SecureStack Six Gallon Tank, EPA, Qty.1 50052017 SecureStack Tie Down Kit 50052023 Pick-Up Tube Assembly 52017P Replacement Fuel...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

See I wasn't lying. The Comet had a lot of guts for a little compact, and the Bonne was the Stingray's dedicated towcar for 35 years. Still have the Ponch - going on 43 years now...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

That's the answer. We have all become wusses, because Detroit has convinced us to buy their most expensive tow vehicles. My first towcar was a 1961 Mercury Comet with 3 on the tree and an 85 HP 144 CID 6 cylinder engine. Towed a 16 footer with a 60 on the back just fine.

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Its not lack of use, its lack of care. Gas tanks stored indoors will last almost forever. At worst $5 worth of new gaskets may be all kit would need.

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Metal boat tanks rust out too. If you ever had a gas tank rust out on a lawn mower, it wasn't taken care of very well. Nevertheless, pop the old boat beside the house without a cover all year long. The metal tank will crap out, but it will last longer than a sun exposed plastic one.

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

My goodness. Are you computer illiterate? I lead you by the hand and you still can't follow simple directions. Or, do you simply want everyone else to do things for you? https://seasense.com/ That's the web site for your crappy tank. The top of the page shows a link for the catalog...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

I'm not surprised. Honda you say....LOL. I have a collection of tanks. All are OMC. Both old and new style, going back as far as 1952. That oldie is still in use on my Lyman. The '70 tank is also in use, and it was OEM to the motor and it still looks like new, despite never having been...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Not "businessmen", per se'. There are still a few good ones left. It's Corporations, i.e., CEOs and MBAs. In other words wall freiking street.

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

I don't disagree with you. So, go to garage sales and buy an old metal tank for 10 bucks. XXXX sells the repair kits (new gaskets) for another 10 bucks, and a $3.95 can of rustoleum gives you a functionally brand new tank. It's not like they weren't the first to think of it. At least they...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

All you had to do was google it. Most tank manufacturers (even the cheap ones) have repair parts because tank longevity ain't all that good. Seasense.com download catalog page 76 part # 52017P

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

These tanks are made of high density polyethylene. As such, that material is very hard to glue. "Nothing" sticks to it because of the hard surface properties. There are adhesives that "claim" to be able to do the job. Google HDPE glue and that should give you some direction. Then you take...

    Maintenance costs?

Winterizing the new 4-stroke outboards is nothing more than changing oils. Open a plug, let it drain, and then pour new stuff in the port on top. Gear oil is done in reverse. I just completed the work on my 2 newest boats. Four Merc outboards. Two bigguns and 2 kickers. I did both in my...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Download the gas tank supplier's catalog and simply buy repair fittings. You need the elbow and gasket. I just did that very thing with my Tempo tank.

Locking outboard while boat is on the trailer

The clamp handles should have a hole in the end. Tighten them so that the 2 handles point toward each other and then put an ordinary HD armored padlock thru the 2 holes. It won't stop a dedicated thief, but it'll make one less dedicated to simply pass it up.

    Store under tarp ?

Tarps and shrink wrap are the causes of rotten boats. Use a canvas cover, or have one custom made.
