    New Journey

Thats an ugly mess! Id agree that 99% of these old boats need love before being sea worthy. Find any good sheds?? Lol Im a hunter first and foremost. Boating/fishing is only for the off season of hunting for me.

The novice build: 1968 Starcraft SuperSport V-16 "The Boat"

Solid advice from @ShoestringMariner I was going to mention adding 5200 as well to the rivet tail before setting it in. Ill be taking my boat to the launch here shortly to test for leaks. I have filled it with water before on the trailer but it did more harm than good with all the weight on...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

@SHSU So far the starcraft is 2-0 vs glassers, and 0-1 vs logs haha Got the donor boat mostly stripped and ready for a dump run yesterday. Today, i got a lot of the brackets in, as well as the 2 main stringers. Will be able to brace the main stringers while I get the new trailer ready. Even got...

The novice build: 1968 Starcraft SuperSport V-16 "The Boat"

Its cool seeing how these boats progressed from the 60s to 70s n so on. Im working on a ‘79 16’ss, and it sounds like I have less experience than you in general. You came to the right place to get her fixed up right! Dont forget to test for leaks. Having a solid, water tight hull should be...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

@SHSU You should have seen the admirals face when I told her I bought another boat!! Ill take a pic next time 😂. Should have waited for today to say april fools... Lets just say she was not thrilled but hasnt even seen the quality of the trailer that the ugly boat sits on. Not only can I...

    1987 Islander

Welcome @baddad1 ! She looks good from the outside. What are your plans with her? Looks like an OB from the pics but hard to tell.

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hatches and deck too great!! Glad I get to watch you do it before I stumble through it haha. Im only planning one main and an access to my fuel tank. Way to maximize your storage though!! 👍👍

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Hard stop to putting bunks on the trailer. Hate to say it but im selling my starcraft cause I picked up a new project - an old glass jetboat!!! Just kidding you tinheads!!! Glasser will be trashed and I just scored that bada$$ trailer for $100!!! Will have to redo some bunks and give it a...

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Nice work @FIGMO I started my own 16’ SS restomod last fall and just got caught up on your work. Really like the casting deck frame and paint scheme. Mine will be similar in color but with white/blue. Thanks for the inspiration and get her splashed!!

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

@SHSU haha it seems fast but I only did 100+/2000? Add the time up I spent prepping too and it would take us at least 3 months to do them all 2000+ lol. Duct tape did come in handy though. After it was done, just peel it off and a quick wipe to be done. Rivet gun stayed nice n clean the...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Thanks!! Definitely feels good to have that big step complete! Riveting may have only taken 4 hours, but prepping to do it took a lot longer. Hoping I dont have any leaks, or very few/small ones that coat-it can fix!! Had a few extra rivet heads pop off when we were hammering, and lots of...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Solid Rivets are in!!!!! Started out today by finishing the rivet prep by drilling out any bad ones and putting a new one in, covered by a piece of duct tape. Then I prepped the knee brace and got it lined up, as well as attached the new brackets to it. The knee brace now has 1/4” rivets for...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Making slow progress as the usual is I guess for now haha. Been busy between work and my family, so boat has only had a little attention lately, but thats about to change. This week Ive been drilling and prepping all of my bad rivets for replacement. Since I have the coat-it along the whole...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

@The John Good idea with the flat blade. I forgot I used a machete first to cut the crud along the side before it came out. Keep trying, she will give eventually. Lifting the boat just means she needs another strategy first lol.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

I had to screw in a few eye hooks to the top of my transom, then got on a chair for leverage to pull it out. Wouldnt budge otherwise due to a bunch of old 5200, corrosion, and rotten wood holding it down.

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

No clue on a remote mounted kicker but thats a cool old boat. Should be a lot of fun on the water for you!

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Back in the second office this week, feel like I got nothing accomplished lol. Finished all the gunnel braces and brackets, still have the floor/rib braces to do (yellow in pic above). Figured out it was way faster to anneal the AL if it was pre-heated. Pretty happy with the bending but wish...

    Hello all, new here.

Dues paid! That is super clean. Actually digging the old pea green color. If it doesnt leak, and the floors/transom are solid, im not sure id change a thing! Just stitch up the torn seats n enjoy it. Whats your plans for her?
