Be easy on me please. Total newbie.

As time goes on, hopefully you will find a way to forgive your neighbor. :ROFLMAO:

What depth is safe for a stern drive 16ft to 18ft boat?

I/O boats require about 1 foot of extra depth than an OB, since you can tilt an OB to a greater extent when in shallow water. Even with an I/O, you can run slowly (idle speed) in shallow water. As mentioned, it is going to be the stuff that you cannot easily see hiding below the surface. In...

1987 Four Winns Boat 16ft inboard would you Buy?

If you are on a low budget, then think about how much additional money the boat might take to become a keeper. At 35+ years old the boat is 2X its designed life. So, expect to put more money into the boat. A detailed inspection would be needed to determine if you have found a diamond in the...

Visited the Atlantic City Boat Show today

When at the boat show recently, I told the sales person that I'd need a substantial raise in my allowance in order to talk seriously. :ROFLMAO:

    BoatingABC Website Down/Gone?

I assume that the person running it may have decided to fold up the tent, given the low volume of activity. . . . But who knows at this point, as there was no message regarding the shutdown.

    Bravo 3 Measurement Request

Was up, but yesterday was my day to be an 'IT Consultant' so I was off to the office. Just getting back to the forum now. I do not have a measurement for that, and the boat is at the summer house. (sorry). FWIW - I use a towel and bungee cord to cover the nose-cone inlets on my B3's when I...

    Explosion and Fire Danger

I/O engines can be a bit concerning relating to fuel proximity. I'm on my 3rd I/O boat. . . . 1) Don't assume that the fuel tank bay below deck is perfectly sealed (i.e air tight), it is probably not. 2) A significant concern with a boat of 20+ years old is the integrity of the fuel tank and...

    Mild Winter

As soon as you start talking about a mild winter, all heck breaks loose. :ROFLMAO:

    Titan/Dico actuator model 10

The lever, once pulled to its 'activation point' by the break-away cable/chain should have an internal locking mechanism (kind of like a parking brake) that locks the brakes up. They are usually very hard to 'activate' by hand.

    Which fuel to use?

Be careful what you hear and the Mercury published literature/info probably is giving a good recommendation.

Always thinking about the 'next' boat . . .

The BW 13 is for the fishing, but with large crowds on holiday weekends, etc, it is all about the sandbar and hanging out on the water.

Always thinking about the 'next' boat . . .

Consuming fuel and beer. Boat and passengers each get their choice :ROFLMAO:

    BoatingABC Website Down/Gone?

I stop by the boatingabc website occasionally . . . lately I noticed it has been down/unreachable. I wonder if it was given last rights? Not much activity over there for the longest time.

    Gambrel roof- cubby

The house will stink and it will be difficult/impossible to get the smell out. I think a better bet is if you can make something similar on the outside of the house that the cat can access through a pet door. We have an area in our summer house that was used for the cat . . . 12 years later...

    First plane ride/snow !

First plane ride was 1963 (ish) Boston -> Philadelphia . . . it was a 707 going and a prop-plane coming back. I distinctly remember the food service . . . a 3-course meal delivered on a custom made serving tray . . . now-a-days you'd have to go to The Capital Grill to get comparable service

Always thinking about the 'next' boat . . .

I don't recall that there was a price posted (probably too scary). One of the boat test videos made mention that CY does not even pretend that the GLS could be a fishing boat (no rod holders). :ROFLMAO:

Always thinking about the 'next' boat . . .

I have been fairly happy with my recent boat purchase, but there is always a 'next' boat that folks (like me) have in mind. I went to the boat show in Boston, MA this past week. I think I might have found it . . . . Cruisers Yacht 34 GLS . . . . . Technically, this boat is only a foot...

    Manifold/riser condition

They look good. The most I've gotten out of a set of manifolds in salt water was about 14 years. :D

    2023 Daytona 500

I was hoping Logano would be able to pull it out for his second win. It seems (to me) like a bit of a judgement call as to when they call the yellow flag, as a second or 2 would have made a difference.
