Maybe my turn for new boat time

@alldodge - sorry to hear about the potential delay in your new boat. I guess there are still material supply issues, particularly motors. Stay the course for what you want, (unless the delays are excessive) you'll be happier in the long run. Boat motors of all types are always love-hate...

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

The problem with this list and others like it is that it is full of mis-information. Lots of folks think their boats are wood-free, based on a few sound bytes in a marketing brochure that is taken out of context, or even just hearsay.

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

Lots of boats still have wood. Most of the wood, after about 2005, is KDAT wood, which has rot resistance. I was recently looking at a 2015 Formula 330 CBR . . . I could tell that the bulkheads and stringers were wood, same as boats built 30 years prior. Lots of folks think their wooden...

Mid 90s (‘95)Four Winns vs mid 90s(‘96) Monterey bow riders

Both of them were mid-tier coming out of the factory almost 30 years ago IMO. What is more relevant today is their current condition, which may put you in the restoration forum.

    Comparison of Boats for Sale

Take a boater safety course, if you have not done so already. It is hard to assess boats via an Internet forum. Brand names mean very little after 10 years. Most parts on a boat are generic and can be found in the aftermarket. Bayliners of that era have a particularly bad reputation . . ...

    Condensation/water in oil?

Maybe some more information on the history. You've had the boat for 2 years It had been flooded Was the engine fine in the past 2 years? Have you used the boat much in the past 2 years? Now there is water in the oil Was this recent? You changed the oil . . . (when ?) Now it is milky...

    Retractable sun shade

I have the SureShade on my boat. Original equipment. My sample size of 1 is that they are a bit finicky. The motors are run by a controller. The controller on my boat was already replaced by the PO. If you extend the shade it can be a head knocker as folks are entering the cockpit area...

Should I buy this Mercury 40 horse?

I love those 'Don't know much about it" Ads . . . The thing is the seller usually knows enough to be selling it. :ROFLMAO:

Revving in neutral means nothing. I'd work the carburetor (cleaning) and see if that improves things.

Four Winns Horizon 190 bilge pump

The wiring, as you described it, is less than ideal. The float should activate the pump regardless of the helm switch position. The helm switch should turn on the pump regardless of the float switch.

    1975 sea ray restoration

Welcome to iBoats . . . Tell us a bit more about your restoration and post some pictures of the project, if you can. Having a good visual always helps with responses. As for bedding the stringers, most common is 'peanut butter' which is a mixture of resin and fiberglass bits to form the...

    Quit My Job . . .

The company that I have been consulting for is a community social service agency. So, it is more about being helpful to them vs. the income. They currently are trying to outsource their IT function and are seeing the 'reality' vs. the 'dream'. I'd feel badly if I just walked away from the...
